Hi All,

My first time on this forum! A pleasure to be a part of this as well! :)

Looking for an entry level Turntable in Bangalore and have shortened down to two models particularly. Will be awesome, if you could help me choose one:

Pro-Ject Debut III with the Pro-Ject Phono Box MM

OR

Denon DP 300F (With the built-in pre-amp)

My first ever Turntable. Have Onkyo speakers and Amp. Idea is to play vinyl records that I have inherited plus collected.

Thanks much in advance for any tips, suggestions. Cheers!

Hi blueme,

Project it is for me. :) You could also check out the Project Genie which has a decoupled motor I think...

Welcome to the forum!

regards

Pro-Ject Debut III with the Pro-Ject Phono Box MM

:)

Am sure most of the TT specialists will also recommend the same. (I am not one!)

BTW, why shortlisted only these 2 models???
Pls give some more info on your Speakers & amp.

:)

Among the two, I would suggest Project. I own one and quite happy with it. But before you buy, please check if your amp has a phonostage else you would have to buy one. The Denon model comes with a built-in phono I guess.

Also check out Rega and Music Hall. Two other affordable options. The are available here I guess though I'm not sure where...

Superficial reading research :)
Listened to these 2 models
Budget
Availability in Bangalore

Figured this will be a decent entry point TT after which I can perhaps change the cartridge or upgrade etc. (Correct me if I am wrong please!)

Will look at Genie as well. Any other model you think I should perhaps check out?

Thanks much again for the response!

Well then your already almost there :p Go get the project :)

I have heard from very reliable sources that Pro-ject's products are good only after the Genie stage. The entry-level RP1 by Rega is a better product in my opinion, both in build quality as well as sound (which is subjective). Since the OP is looking for a starter TT, I think the Rega makes most sense.

+1 for Rega RP1 else look for vintage tables.they offer more VFM and better than current entry level once.
