Till now I had connected the D2H STB to the TV through HDMI and to the AVR through Co-axial. There was no problem and I was getting 5.1 DD sound. Today I bought another HDMI and connected STB--HDMI-->AVR---HDMI--->TV. There is no sound at all but the video is ok. Some guy told me that not all HDMI cables carry audio. is it correct? I am using Bandridge cable. can anybody help please?
Have emailed several times to [email protected] but no one replied back , can't watch tv any,ore due to videocon set top box sound issue.

Just did this lets see if they respond as they have closed all the complaints number stating that product is ok but customer is not satisfied
If the audio is OK when connected directly to TV it confirms that there is no problem with STB or HDMI. Have you taken care of the sound input settings of AVR and sound output settings of STB. I think Coaxial/digital optical gives better sound quality than HDMI. May I know the name of AVR and model NO.

^^ I increased STB's volume and it worked. It proved that there is nothing wrong with the cable or TV. But the sound is not 5.1 or DD. For all channels it was showing `PCM' and no sound for HD channels. So I switched back to Co-axial for audio.
What about sound settings in STB. Dolby option is not there?

^^^ I didn't find any DD setting in the STB. Should it be there? There is one Home Cinema/Stereo option only.

I am using HDMi to LCD and Coaxial to AVR, to get 5.1 DD press info button on remote, press yellow button, select languages, there you will find 5.1 feed, enable it and your AVR activates DD mode.

I am having the same connections and getting DD. It is only when I replaced co-axial with another HDMI for connecting STB with AVR, this problem came up.

Are you using the new white box? It has the options 'Stereo', 'Surround' and 'Auto'. Just set the audio to Auto and it will passthrough DD through both hdmi and coaxial out.

@baijuxavior - Its the older black box ( no DVR) and the options are Stereo/Home-Cinema only, no `Auto'. I'll do some fiddling again tonight. Lets see.

Try getting in touch with them through Facebook or Twitter. All my firm issues got resolved. They'll help.
I got a updte to this and Auto option is available now along with USB recording

Hi, I am using Videocon D2H and recently connected set top box to Denon X1000 AVR, everything is fine except the sound from Zee studio HD chanel which has 5.1 dolby output where in i am hearing dialogue from Front(R) and Surround(R) speakers.(Normally it should have been through center speaker, other channels like Movies now HD and Star movies HD work perfectly). Does any one has faced same problem?? any suggestions to correct this??

Dear ishaan, I too faced this problem but solved it by deleting all from list and again adding channels freshly so you will get 20 in the list
