This might be old news. Visited wdc.com today and came across this. Also felt that now WD might not give DVD support on older models.

WDTV is introducing WDTV Live PLUS with Netflix Streaming and DVD support, Price quoted on US site is same as WDTV live. Only Diff between the two is Netflix straming and DVD support.

WDTV Live Plus available at Amazon USA at $120. The same from WD website costing $149. Is there any catch that I am unable to notice?

Okay guys...so finally I got my WDTV Live Plus last week :yahoo:. Placed order from Amazon at $119.00 and got it delivered to one of my colleague in US who brought it back to India last week. Tried many file formats and as reviews suggest, it played almost all of them nicely:). I've few BDRips and PQ is excellent.
Need advice on connection for music though from experts here who are already using it. I've connected LCD to WDTV through HDMI cable directly and planning to buy one optical cable to be connected to Onkyo304 for movies. Now the question is, Is optical cable connection is good for music also? Or do I need to connect it to Onkyo receiver throguh stereo component wire so as DAC processing to take place in WDTV/Onkyo AVR?

Thanks

My suggestion is only you can answer. Do the following:

1. Pick a song you know very well
2. Connect via optical from WDTV to your AVR. Listen through the stereo mode.
3. Now remove optical connection and connect via stereo cable to the AVR L/R stereo input. Listen to the same song.

Settle for the connection that sounds the best. WDTV's internal DAC is nothing great to write about so most probably you will like Onkyo's output.
