When TataSky is adding more HD channels

I booked tatasky on 31st Aug and was entitled for 4 HD movies.

Do you mean showcase movies? Are these in HD?

Showcase movies used to be in HD but not now a days. The signal strength is however good for SD.

Today I got a call from there CC, it was about the policy change in HD. I listened to it as if hearing it for the first time. After all information he asked me if I want to add any English/Sports channel (so as to get it in Hd), I asked can you do that right away ? he said yes, I asked further do you have the authority to modify channel/packages to which he said "Yes"..

I said, please remove HD pack and music pack, let me have Dhamaal Pack only, that's what I can afford now.

The guy said, sorry sir " I can add but can`t remove any channel/packages" !!

I believe that one can upgrade channel packages but not downgrade it (using self service). That is consumerism for you in India.

They can remove. You can add packs using the portal, but you need to call them to downgrade and remove services.

I will definitely call but I doubt anything will happen. These service providers would have given a hefty bribe to make Digitization mandatory , its time for them to reap the benefits. (and out of all the bloody problem this country has, our government chose to implement digitization as mandatory, my blood boils everytime I see those messages on TV)

Tatasky customer service and their policies are the WORST I have experienced. It looks like, I am sure it is that they have decided how much money they have to make per customer. Its Rs. 350 / Month ... and any intelligent customer who has created a mypack for Rs. 200 .. . somehow they will manage to inflate it to Rs. 350 by increasing the cost of the channels or moving the channels from one pack to another. I use their service since 2007 and This is my experience.

Now planning to terminate the subscription and look at other providers.

And the worst part is,

Yesterday I got the message is STB saying,

" .... Change in HD channels as per customer demand....


Who demanded such criteria ??

Offtopic: I don't know whether this is a perception or truth. I get a feeling that the overall PQ of many SD channels has improved since yesterday. Even HD channels are appearing a tad better. Anyone felt the same?

Today I am going to remove HD from my channel portfolio, till I decide the best alternative.

I think this is the best way to protest against their recent HD policies.


I cannot write on a public forum for all of us to do the same, but the message is implied.

If you decided to remove the HD pack, you might as well decide to switch provider. Or are you waiting for some sense to dawn on the TS officials? But that is clearly a long shot.

The money invested on Set Top boxes will stop me from changing providers as well, but I guess I can go without HD for a few months, since I am the only one who watches HD, rest of the family watches TV on normal SD Box

I will as well go ahead and remove HD and deactivate the HD box.

Can`t afford to buy a new STB right now. Actually I prefer just quite a few things to watch.

Enjoyed the last 2-3 years of cricket on TS, now a days don`t get much time and interest has drastically come down. Watch most of things via internet.

I thought with coming days watching TV will get cheaper day by day, it seems totally reverse.

Yes, I have also observed that. Colours in each HD channel is tad reach. I need to reset all my previous setting to adjust this change. Cant comment on the sound though.

Also SD look bit better. I dont know abouth other channel but I complained about Ten Action being very dull and since few days its much better. Even the poorest of the lot(Star Sports) also looking better. Tatasky deserve a :clapping: for the effort.
