Friends,

Please suggest me - whether Denon 2113 or Denon 1513 will be the better driver for SOnodyne Sonus 2605.
For you ref. Denon 2113 remits 85 W ( at 8 ohm impedance ) and 1513 remits 75 W ( at 8 ohm impedance ). Continuous RMS of SOnodyne Sonus 2605 is 130 W ( at 8 ohm impedance ).

Please also advise me what will be difference in sound from the same sonus speaker by using these 2 AVRs ?

Thanks

Thanks Ranjit. Actually I auditioned Paradim Monitor 9 few days back 2 times with different AVRs - firstly with Denon 2113 and then with Denon 1513. And as a result I felt that the sound from the same speaker is much lighter and with pitching-problem when the same speaker got driven by 1513 ( as Denon 1513 is of 75 W at 8 ohm impedance and Denon 2113 is of 85 W at 8 ohm impedance ) - and when it got driven by Denon 2113 the problems mitigated to an extend.
Unfortunately I could not audition Sonodyne Sonus 2605 speakers with Denon 2113 as the store does not have that.
At this stage, could you or anyone suggest me whether the 130W speaker will sound better in Denon 2113 than 1513 ( forget about subwoofer - just by the speakers ) ?

Thanks

Look for a receiver which have pre-outs atleast for L & R Channels..This way you can add an stereo power amplifier later.....

You will need a power amplifier which can output 100W consistently @ 8 ohms to get the best from Sonus 2605 for Stereo listening....

The Denon 2113 will sound better than the 1513 irrespective of speaker power ratings.
the 2113 has better amplification and internal components so will edge out the 1513 in terms of SQ

Take speaker ratings with a pinch of salt and the same holds true for Amplifiers.

for example a 50 watt integrated amp will sound better than a equivalent priced 100 watt AVR.

Thanks guys.
@ Elangoas - your response is interesting .. I do not have the idea of "PRE-OUT" and "Stereo power amp". Could you please explain me a bit.
Thanks

Most AVR will have difficulty driving speakers like Paradim Monitor 9. They are not easy to drive and an AVR is typically not designed to drive such speakers. However, if you insist on using an AVR to drive full range floorstanders go for a Harman Kardon AVR. Harman Kardon AVRs have tons of power on tap. They will not leave you wanting like you experienced.

I have a question here. Suppose I am listening to music in stereo mode and the AVR is connected with DVD player with COAXIAL CABLE. If I replace this coaxial cable by ANALOG CABLE then will the sound quality improve - please suggest.

I am always confused with the nominal power out put of sonodyne speakers.I think 2605 is 90 watts rms nominal and power handling 130watts.

IF you are connecting you DVD player to your AVR via Coax digital output of your DVD player
then the AVR's DAC is being used to convert Digital signal to Analog

When you connect your DVD player via RCA analog outputs then in this case you are using the DVD's DAC

So it depends on what DVD player you have and which sounds better to your ears
The DAC on the AVR or the DAC on the DVD player

Great answer Flash !!!! Very well understood ...
I assume the DAC of Denon 2113 will be better than normal Samsung/Sony/Lg DVD player - is not it or it is the other way around ?

Thanks mate !

Yes Absolutely . The 2113 AKM Semiconductor 24-bit/192-kHz AK4358VQ x 2 per channel differential DAC
will be much better than your run of the mill DVD players DAC

When you connect your DVD player via RCA analog outputs then in this case you are using the DVD's DAC

Actually in this case the Digital to Analog conversion is done twice when we take the RCA route...Once by the DVD player & the second time by AVR...Correct me if i am wrong...

NO - Its done only once.
When connected via RCA inputs of the AVR.
The AVR in this case only acts as a preamp/processor + Power Amp.
Its internal DAC's do not come into play

Why don't you try and visit SOUTH CITY MALL Sonodyne Listening Room? 3rd Floor, I guess ... next to the Bose outlet.

That place has a Denon AVR (don't remember the model no.) connected to Sonus 2605 and others in HT mode. You can play around with different combinations and check out for yourself .....

None !!
You need a Marantz, Cambridge Audio or Sonodyne's own AVR to be able to drive the Sonus 2605. No Denon, Onkyo or Yamaha AVR can do it. Please dont waste your time with the last three if you are even a wee bit serious about stereo.

I have heard Sonodyne Sonus 2605 connected to Yamaha & Onkyo AVR many times....Of this , i liked the Yamaha AVR when connected to Sonus 2605 and it sounded better than Onkyo for music...

Marantz AVR's are low on bass. It won't do justice to the 2x6.5" woofers present in the 2605.
CA is in a different league, with the likes of NAD and higher end receivers of YAMAHA and DENON. But, then you will have to shell out some extra bucks.

If it is for stereo better go for the CA651A stereo amp (if you call SKS Traders they can provide you a home demo at some transportation charge)

Also I think the South City Sonodyne shop is not the ideal place for giving a true judgement to Sonodyne products. They are in lot of rush to sell than to provide a true demo.

^^ It is usually pretty quiet in the home audio section of the Sonodyne outlet at South City Mall. Some rush is of course present in their 'studio' section. But, thats another room altogether. Its nice and quiet in their 'home audio' section.
