Hey Everyone - I'm getting a projector (XGIMI Horizon Pro 4k) and I need a screen for it.

My room dimensions are 12x13 feet and I'll be sitting 11 feet away from the screen.

Saw a bunch of options on Amazon but the more I read about projector screens, the more I'm confused.

Not sure whether to go for motorized or a manual auto-lock one, ALR vs Matte White etc.

The ambient light in my room can be controlled to a good extent so not sure if I need ALR. Can't do a fixed screen because it's not a dedicated HT and the screen will have to roll down in front of my TV.

Please help :D

I have an XGIMI H2 and the remote stopped working long ago and theres no replacement available in India. The seller turned me down too. Within a year of purchase there was white spots around the image and now it lits up like stars everywhere. Two dead pixel appeared within 3 years of purchase. I got no support whatssoever. This was with the previous sellers. Not sure of the current one. As much as it is enticing to buy, I wouldn't put my money on another xgimi again. May be Hisense or some reputed brands like benq.
For screen, I made my own screen using spandex cloth purchased from spandex world usa. Black spandex cloth was purchased from tiruppur. If you need contacts, I shall give. You can hire a carpenter and do the job. FIxed screens are better than motorized unless you absolutely want a motorized/ rollable screen.

ALR if you have lights in the room while watching the videos. Otherwise a normal screen would do. Maybe you can go for high gain screens but not sure if it will affect the contrast.

Yikes! Did you buy the projector from India itself?

The one I'm getting comes with 2 years of warranty so I'm good there.

Unfortunately, can't do a fixed screen because I've got a TV on the wall.

Yeah, I don't think I'll need ALR as I'll switch off the lights while using the projector. Need to research about high gain screens.

yes, I did buy from India with 1 year warranty. Indian dealers don';t deal with H2 remote here and XGIMI china are not willing to ship it to India.
You can go with good motorized screen. Nothing is more fancier than dropping a giant 120 inch screen infront of your tv. cheers.

What about a manual pull down screen with autolock? I'm kinda concerned about the motor going bad down the line.

It's inlight brand. I have recently bought motorised grey screen (this was only feasible option for me), tough I was looking for tighten floor rising. I have DMed the contact .

Go for motorized screen as you manual pull down screens are prone to forming waves.
you can go for 110 inches if you want more immersive experience but some like to have 100 inches for 11 feet as they can cover entire screen from the viewing distance.

Buy 1.1 gain screen if you are mounting the projector at short distance. if the distance is too long and want to go for big screen you may need to go for higher gain screens.

Buy L shaped wall hangers to hang your projector

You can check Elite screens, Clearview, Grandview.

Thank YOU for those inputs!

I put my requirement on Indiamart and a bunch of dealers reached out. I think they assemble these screens at their workshop or whatever.

Bought a 100", matte white, motorized, 1.2 gain, fibreglass backed screen for 6.3k plus shipping from a business called Anand Audio Visual. Their brand is called Legendary.

Hoping it'll be decent.
