Hi all,
Have finally caved in and decided to splurge on a good audio setup. Have a few questions, and hoping the wonderful folks on this forum can help me out.
1] First off, I got a Denon 3310 for 84k, from the ProFx showroom on MG Road, Bangalore. Is that a good price, or should I have haggled more? MRP was 99k.
2] What speakers would you suggest for a budget of Rs 1.5 lakh? My listening room is approx 10ft x 15ft, and I am looking at a 7.1 setup, where i can swap the rear speakers to dolby iiz height and back depending on the material i am playing - for action movies, unplug the rears and use them as heights; for regular fare, take the heights back to rear. Which means, the rears need to be bookshelves.
The ProFx guys suggested a KEF package of IQ90 fronts, IQ60C center, two pairs of IQ30s for side surround and rear/ height, Polk Audio DSW Pro 600 for sub. Total package worked out to 1.66 lakh. Above my budget, but can stretch to it.
So this is where I manily need your help. Once I setup this system, there is no way I would be buying another system for years to come! This will cause a huge hole in my finances, that will take me a long time to recover. So I have to get it right this time!
What would you suggest in this price range? Also, if possible, where in Bangalore can I go and check out your suggestions?
My usage would be 50/25/25 music/movies/gaming. Have a huge collection of FLAC and 5.1 DTS audio. Plus Blu-rays, 720p mkv with 5.1 tracks, regular divx/xvid... For gaming, I have the PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii. And for display, i have a 42 inches 1080p LG Scarlet and a Sony Cineza 1080i projector.
3] Suggested cables were QED at Rs 250/ meter. Are they worth it? Any other options? I already have speaker wires from an earlier budget Sony setup. Do cables make a difference that is discernable, or is it just psychological effect where you "think" they make a difference. Like buying Monster cables, when cables worth 1/10 price would give the same result!
Thanks in advance for your advice.
