5.1 over HDMI

I want to send 5.1 via HDMI from my PC to my HT.

I tried everything but failed.

Please help.

Graphic Card: ATI Radeon HD 4250
HT: Yamaha HTR-2064
OS: Win 7

Which media player are you using? It depends on the sound output settings of media player also.

First set your hdmi device to 5.1. Right click taskbar volume control icon > Playback devices > HDMI audio > Configure > Set to 5.1.

Then set your media player to bitstream the audio. XBMC is very easy when it comes to configuring audio settings. VLC, Potplayer etc. can also be easily set in bitstream mode.

I am not getting any 5.1 option in config rather just audio

VLC with 5.1ch setting. Problem is I am not able to even configure it on my pc :/

If the hdmi device is showing only two channel then getting 5.1 is impossible. Installing the latest amd graphics driver may help.
