People People AB's Transparent Speaker goes live on Kickstarter, we clearly go hands-on

What are your thoughts?

I personally feel whoever bought it, deserved to have lost their money
It's sad how it's getting so much publicity. I mean come on, atleast make the woofer transparent like this if youve got to call it a transparent speaker.. but nope.

Here are some other transparent speakers.

seem to be a ripoff on waterfall speakers..those were apparently truly Hifi and at 5 times the price.
waterfall speakers were a curiosity as well but pretty well reviewed and with celebrity ownership...

But i have never got a chance to hear them and would not risk judging them without hearing them

I've heard waterfalls in singapore and they looked better than they performed. I would not pay more than 1.5 Lakhs for the sound quality it offers.

However any and all doubts regarding tempered glass as a suitable enclosure without glasswool or foam inside was put to rest.

What's wrong is being transparent? No pun intended ;) so long as they sound good!

Here is another one. For 11k I guess it was one of the good sounding speakers with looks to die for. Let's face it, a lot of people would pay for looks. Don't rule aesthetics out!

The third pic with the transparent floorstander has the wiring done in a way that is aesthetically much more pleasing.
As I have not heard any good hi fi speaker with a glass enclosure, I am still skeptical. Glass doesnt absorb sound, right?

Transparent speakers would be nice if there were immiscible coloured gases representing highs mids and low frequencies filled inside. Then when the speaker is used the sound vibrations would make them inter-mix in various random ways showing hued patterns and settle down back their seperate ways when the sound stops, and it would be fun to watch. Ok a flight of fantasy as gases are not immiscible.
