Rs. 4,200 is awesome.. Even if you don't use it, it's a great retro showpiece with your stereo system...
True. And if HDFC credit card, it will cost just 3,800. It has good reviews as an entry level TT. It is the cost of two new LPs. My friend bought one. I will post his impressions once he set it up. Current price is lower than almost all international prices. Looks like Amazon's strategy sell it cheap and earn on LPs later. Good for us :)

Maybe my question is irrelevant in today's times...but is it still possible to mine second hand markets like chickpete/BVK iyengar road types and get LPs that work for 100-200 bucks?

plonking 3800 on a new one is fine...but paying 1200 per LP for one hour of music is too much.....can understand the retro look and all that... but one has to look at the variable factor of buying LPs as well.

My interest is mainly in old carnatic classical recordings..any idea if we can get those cheaply in bangalore even if purely for novelty purposes?

The reviews says that it does not require a phone preamp and can be directly connected to a preamp. Is this true?
