Can some light be thrown on Amkette EVO TV in comparison to other network media streaming players from Dlink , Asus , xtreamer etc ? Has anybody any experience on this product ? Since it is android based , it is virtually a computer and streaming media player with host of India specific content . I need some practical feedback , from the forum experts . Thanks .

Hi All, I am very much impressed by Evo TV features, ( Basically I am looking at Media player capabilities) previously I was using Asus OPlay, but Remote ditched me & is not available. Hence planning to buy new Media player, can ony user Give his opinion on this media player handles All video & Audio formats, how about Remote, is remote capable & smooth enough to play Motion games

Hi haisaikat,

I have used EVO TV in the past. It plays flawless any audio video format files. Youtube plays well. Has an Inbuilt wifi and Motion remote works fine. As per audio is concerned it decodes DTS and Dolby digital and support up to 7.1 channel. But it can not decode latest DTS HD/MA or Dolby digital plus/Dolby true HD. Startup time is 15 - 20 seconds. You can modify the views at the startup screen. It can not play bluray BD files, bluray ISO files and 3d blurays. It plays 1 TB WD external hard drive flawlessly. Have not tested beyond 1 TB disks. Do let me know if you any doubts.

For my in laws so DTS HD MA, BD iso, etc support is not a problem. At max they will hook up with a stereo Norge + Wharfedale combo system so any feedback on the analogue audio out will be great. But the main intention is surfing web content like Facebook, picasa, web browsing, etc and whether the experience is same as that of an android phone with a mouse? Does it work with google play and xbmc? Since they do not have a computer at home, this will be their window to internet

Hi haisaikat,

Amkette EVO TV plays flawlessly web content like Facebook, picasa, web browsing. You better purchase any Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo to access for web browsing. You can download and install apps from google play but some are restricted as they are not compatible with EVO tv. You can download from EVO tv store as well. Can do Skype calling with compatible webcams. Can listen various radio stations, I feel this is an excellent feature and compliment for you as you already have stereo Norge + Wharfedale combo system.

I have Logitech keyboard and mouse. If you are interested, pls. PM me so that I can ship you my combo.

Hi Srikar,

Have you had any experience with the Stereo L/R output of the EVO TV.

I am planning to buy one as the L/R output from my tv is really muffled and has very low volume even though it plays most video formats.

I am looking for a media player to connect to my stereo amp via RCA cable to watch movies.

Got the Evo TV AC, installed at at my in laws location. First impression is really good especially the concept of air mouse in the remote. Skype video chat was garbled, probably because of the poor service of the vodafone 3g sim card in the vicinity of the home but overall it is a good experience for my in laws especially they are now up to date with emails and facebook.

A question - since you have access to the Playstore, is it possible to install apps like the Netflix and Pandora apps? Can we use it to stream stuff from the net?

Feedback so far for evo tv AC, in laws are now addicted to facebook and can check emails regularly who previously wanted to avoid computers. I think the success is mainly due to
1. The mindset that this is not a computer and just like another dvd player with remote
2. the fact that the air mouse cum remote is very easy to use
3. Android UI is easy to use

Gaming and Stereo playback along with movie playback is still to be explored. But overall it is a hit. They use it twice a day :) for roughly 1 hr each, hope that does not impact the longevity. Does get heated though but cools down fast once switched off. Also Youtube can hang if net connection is not suitable so for now advised not to use youtube. Will measure speedtest.net next week. :) Thanks friends for giving the confidence in the first place
