Well, finally on my iPhone too! Indian account, no VPN!
Probably, the hi-res, lossless rollout is picking up speed. I had cancelled my subscription few days ago and resubscribed today, and these settings showed up. Strange.

Sorry if I missed this on this thread but how does it work? For me as you can see in the image the song shows Dolby atmos. I have a Dolby atmos HT. In a HT chain only through HDMI you can pass the atmos signal. Now mine is an iPhonexr and how can I get the song to play in atmos in my HT?

Yes, finally!
Kudos to @Bloom@83 for winning the fastest finger first on this! Guess it would have started at midnight, so the owls caught it before the larks. :D

So Apple has lived upto our faith in them. Let’s remember they are the first to launch lossless streaming in India. The one month delay might be easily attributable to logistical reasons. Guess we can give them that concession.

Now, let the assessment of SQ begin.

My quick first impression (with lossless on, Dolby off):
Bass articulation is better than Tidal, just like I’d felt with Qobuz. This has been an issue with Tidal. But the immediacy/openness is less - which I’d attribute to Tidal being played natively on my CXN while Apple Music needs AirPlay. How I wish they open it up for native streaming! But given that Apple has taken the initiative to officially launch lossless here (and also their far better user experience via the app: lyrics, album and artist notes, suggestions, radio et al), my money would go with them. And frankly, it’s virtually free with Apple One.

Available on Android too. I am using Beta 1115. Audio setting -> Hi-Res Lossless over wifi.

Playing from Samsung S10+ -> Zen DAC -> Crown XLS 2502.

Will try Marantz later and update.

Sorry for a Quick check:
Airplay to Receiver/Amp of Lossless is 44.1 16bit Alac ?

Have been googling on this topic for a while. Answers are unclear.

Consensus view seems to be :
- The Airplay protocol is capable of carrying lossless 44.1 16bit
- However, the Apple music app seems to be streaming only AAC , via Airplay, even when a song is available as lossless

Have a look at this discussion thread :

Summary :

AirPlay (1 and 2) is capable of ALAC (lossless) streaming up to 44.1 kHz (48 kHz for video contents).

Hi-res lossless (over 48 kHz) isn't supported via AirPlay as a protocol, regardless of Apple Music.

That said, Apple Music in its lossless form streamed via AirPlay isn't only limited to 44.1 kHz (as expected like said before): unfortunately it's turned into a lossy (AAC) stream. It has been confirmed from various sources. Don't ask me why.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
