Apple music to launch lossless streaming

This is how apple music app works on android... It crawls and crashes

In songs as well it buffers... While trying to load library it buffers for minutes! Imagine any other streaming app doing that...No its not my connection... Just adding a screenshot of my connection speed as well

Here is something very interesting: Dolby Atmos worked on my iPad (via USB camera adapter) with Boat immortal 1000D (USB). Drivers on this headphones are average at best but features are too good to beat at 2.5K.

No apple fan boy but none of these issues I am facing. It's not blazing fast but does not take ages and nor does it crash

Hello,

Fianlly, Apple lossless, High Res Lossless, and Spatial audio is here in India.

not that this explains why you are facing such severe issues with the streaming app - but from your speed test screenshot , your connection/network bufferbloat is extremely bad.
This will negatively affect everything with your Internet UX

Interesting, i dont know what that means but I have never faced any issues with Youtube, tidal, spotify, online gaming, netflix, amazon prime, mobi, or any other streaming app - streaming at max quality across multiple devices

Issue is only with apple music

Also I just did a bloatware test and it showed my grade is A+. No issues

That specific screenshot in your post (fast.com) shows unloaded latency of 18ms - which is not great but still
However your loaded latency is 97ms which is a huge jump over the baseline 18.

To put it in perspective, I get a latency of 3 and 4 ms respectively on wired.
The second screenshot is from a mobile client (5/8)

Could have been a transient issue on the router- but something to watch out for

Definitely. I tested it again a few times, it looks like it was a temporary glitch as the newer tests show very little difference between the unloaded and loaded latencies (+2, +3 ms)

The issue with apple music app is however not transient and looks like a case of poor app design

Yeah, those are good values to get..

As for the latter part of your statement, no comments :)

Could be an issue with your device. On my android phone, the app seems more responsive than the Tidal one. The experience is better on apple devices though (even on a six year old iphone). Guess they don't optimise for a wide range of android hardware configurations.

If you are on iPhone, why don't you Airplay to your AVR? I can get 24/48 quickly over Airplay.
Am on Android, OM_2K19.

Meanwhile, the TV app is working. Slow and crashes often but plays.

@SachinChavan

Chromecast connects to TV not AVR. Hence, PCM again.

Airplay connects to AVR.

Edit: Connected via my Nieces Iphone and via Airplay it also shows PCM on the AVR

Edit 1: The Apple Music on my Nieces phone was not set to play lossless. Don't want to fiddle with her phone as it is set to Dubai.

Thanks for the efforts and feedback @ssf. Guess I’d just wait till Apple can tweak its app to AirPlay ALAC.

Had the normal apple music app on my android, then upgraded to the beta app, finally upgraded to the latest app on the google store. Really loved the way the app just transitioned to each version seamlessly. Till about a month ago, I was using Gaana paid version, amazon prime music, and occasionally spotify. After trying out the normal Apple Music, I was hooked.

Lossless does have a slightly noticeable difference in my setup. I do find it really good and don't think I would be going elsewhere.
