hey did you get the hdmi cable in box as written in techtree review???

flaws getting exposed one by one....making me to rethink on jumping to buy the unit...
Okay So I got my Mini as well, And here is a short review from a Layman
Before i do that, let me mention that I dont have any experience with any other media player...
Setup
Its really easy to setup the entire thing, just take it out from the box and plug in an HDMI cable and connect it to your LCD/Plasma/LED
It gets automatically detected and all the files are scanned when it is plugged in for the first time, If you want to skip this step, you can go to the File manager view
The layout of the menu is fairly simple and easy to use, Has differrent options for Music, Movies, Firmware upgrade etc
I plugged in the unit to my Brand new panny 42x20d and didnt see any huge difference, Hence was sceptical about posting a review thinking i must have done something wrong. You know, didnt want to put the product down when I am not a subject matter expert
Yesterday i realised that the video output is on PAL mode and not on HDMI, Once I changed this, the result was amazing, I played a file that was around 20GB and the player took it effortlessly,
Someone had asked to check for the audio output, Unfortunately I don't have a HT at this point to check it, Sorry!
So to sum it up:
Pros:
Excellent value at its price
Easy to setup
It played all formats indifferent of the size
Menu is simple and easy to use
Picture clarity is Excellent and no frozen images
If you open the same file again, system will ask if you want to continue from where you stopped last.
Cons:
The remote looks like it was assembled in 15 minutes
The keys are not responsive, Also Fast forward and rewind options sometimes get stuck
Only one HD out, Cannot attach anything else
It takes eternity for the unit to power off
Overall verdict
I am pretty happy with the unit considering the price and what it could do, To me all I wanted was a player that will play videos on my Plasma without any Fuss, This player does just that, If you want anymore details, Ask me please.
Can anyone tell me is there sound on LCD TV when it is connected wiht HDMI cable, and playing MKV file with DTS sound.
Even if it down mixes are you getting audio through analog out when you play DTS track?
Dear Subhash,
I may sound silly, honestly advise me ... shall I go for LGBD550 at 6100/- or Asus oplay mini in case the size and portability is not an issue.... Though USB playability for LG is not clear so far
thanks in advance
ASUS O!Play MINI - HardwareZone.com
reports the following.....
Audio on the MINI, with its ability to crank out 7.1 surround audio DTS 2.0+, True HD and DTS-HD was also tested via the HDMI and the optical S/PDIF output and we are glad to report that it worked flawlessly.
But the actual review from Subhashji is against DTSHD capability....
Any setup trick by chance, u can give a through please
