AV Receiver and Speakers

Hi, I am new to this forum but an old music enthusiastic. Want to buy a good one now.
I have recently visited Nakamichi Store at Khan market (New Delhi) and expereinced a demo of the following configuration:-

1. Marantz amplifier: (SR-4002, 7.1 Ch (A.V. Receiver) 80W RMS x 7 Ch
2. Boston speakers: CR-97 (1 pair of Floor Standers); CR-C-7 (1 pc of Centre spkrs); CR-55 (1 pair of Surround spkrs); PV-350 (1 pc of active Subwoofer).

Don't know as how to judge what is a good system on technical parameters. Budget is around 1 lac. Can you give some lead?

Hi Hemant,

Marantz is a good choice especially if u r a music enthusiast, but u can go in for latest model SR4003 (or 5003 with HD decoding). You can even try the new Denon 1910 which seems to be good too.

However, I would suggest to listen to more brands of speakers, the likes of Mission/wharf/MS/Q acoustics/PSB before deciding..

As far as my exp of Boston spks,I found it ok for movies but definitely not for music. I felt it was boomy with lack of clarity (mids and highs).
