Bangalore Hifi meet 2011?

George, I would prefer Aug 7th.
Aug 14 is a long weekend (due to 15th being on Monday) may see lesser participation.

Sudhir
I know, we looked at various options, including later in August, the fact that Aug 14th was a long weekend but finally decided that the best way was to ask people for their preference.

Looking at the slow response, I hope it doesn't get to be the end of July before we decide on the date!

1. Preferred Dates - any, should be able to manage :)

2. I want to - meet forum friends from the last meet and also new ones

3. My interest - rock, jazz, classical, vinyl, tubes

Will be happy to help in whatever way possible

We have about 24-30 people so far who have expressed interest, and since not too many people are indicating dates, let's freeze on Sunday Aug 7th.

With regard to presentations, I will do one on making speakers, about 15 mins +/-, shorter if possible. I will bring along drivers, and crossover parts, as well as a file which will need both a projector and a laptop.

Santhosh will indicate his area of interest, and Sunil Jocelyn who is another audiophile will also indicate his subject. I need to have people who are wiling to bring their gear in for auditioning on that day. Anyone(s)?

Cheers

George

So Sunday, 7th August it is. Gr8!! Suits me just fine:)

Some updates from me:
Spoke to Raghu yesterday to get an idea of the space that was being very kindly offered to us for the meet. Turns out to be a fully acoustically treated ~40ft x 60ft mini auditorium. Wow!!

Also spoke to Abhishek of Audiodynamics to check if he is able to get some AV Components for us to audition - especially since he has added a few new brands like Exposure, Thorens etc. He has kindly agreed to get some of his new stuff for us to listen to.

Will also call few other commercial members during the next week to check if they can get/send some gear for us to audition. Sridhar, Mridul, Lakozy-Bangalore: expect my call soon:).

Draft agenda for the day is as below:
10.30 to 11:00 hrs - Socialising, Networking etc
11:00 to 11:20 hrs - Presentation on DIY by George
11:30 to 11:50 - Presentation on Room Acoustics by Santhosh
12:00 to 13:00 - Audition of Member's AV components (George's Squeezebox Touch & Santhosh's NuForce UDAC confirmed so far, others please post what you can get)
13:00 to 14:00 - Lunch (where, what, how to be decided)
14:00 to 16:00 - Audition of AV equipment Courtesy Abhishek & other Commercial Members

This is just a draft, we'll fine tune it as we get more updates/interest on this thread.

Raghu has very kindly offered to consider the possibility of sponsoring lunch for attendees by Anutone. There is an Adyar Anand Bhavan located just across the road, and they can give a decent packed lunch

Thanks Santhosh for summing up. I am hopeful that we will have some more people offering to present in the pre lunch session. Sunil Jocelyn is someone who has built multiple amps, both chip amps and others, as well as active crossovers( and speakers) and who will hopefully come in. If that happens then we may try and fit in one more session.

I don't know if I have a say on this, but raghu is already giving the place for the meet, shouldn't we organize lunch on our own :)

Arun

If Anutone is willing to( to be confirmed by Raghu) host us for a simple lunch, I dont think we should turn them down, should we? I met Sandeep Mittal, who is a director, and he was very encouraging and assured all support for the event. All we need to do is to get the participants to come and enjoy the event.

Raghu has an initial list of confirmations-Raghu please post the list- and I have a few others who have spoken to me and confirmed their intention to be there, so I will also add them to the list.

George

Cheers

George, could you add me to the list too. Don't have any gear to flaunt so I would be a leech this year.

I have been collecting components for a PC based audio source. These components have seriously low dB ratings (Nexus power supply, SilverStone GD05 case, Nexus low profile CPU cooler). Since there has been a change of plans, I was planning to abandon the build. If people are interested I can make the build and bring it.

Dont worry, audio nuts in all shapes and sizes are welcome-even leeches!

I guess so :)
And I am in, I am a professional photographer and can give tips or clarify doubts on how to shoot your av setup to post it on the forum, and I can bring my camera to shoot the event, this will be my contribution to the event.

Santhosh

Thanks for the agenda.Raghu is doing the listing of participants. Ragu: Please add amit, santnai and arun + Col Bheeman, AC Kuryan, Philip Isaacs and Sunil Jocelyn to your list. Can you post the list of participants sometime this week? IIRC we can accomodate about 35+, and once we exceed this number we may need to waitlist people.

Also we need a laptop for the presentation, with Adobe Acrobat, since my presenation is a pdf file.I will try and get hold of a second ss phonostage, a Hagerman Technologies unit.I will also be bringing samples of Scanspeak drivers( mids and tweeters), as well as a a Shiva 12 inch subwoofer, duing my presentation as well as some crossover components.

ANy more thoughts, anyone?

Sorry, I missed some of your suggested names, will include it in the next list.
I will provide my laptop for presentations (VAIO with BD player, HDMI o/p, wifi connection).

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
