Best ever deal for loudspeaker kits.

the bubble wrap on the crossover was not "packed" but was more like an open envelop. The crossover was dry. I wiped it and repacked.

- kit for sub - a pair of 12" woofers, plate amp, 4 spikes & spike feet, one power cord. I hope the wires to connect servo coil are inside the plate amp packing, as I have not opened it.

Hi Anm,

So you have ordered a dual servo sub? I ask because I ordered a non servo sub and spikes and spike feed are not included.

Have anyone who has ordered a non servo sub received spikes and spike feet?
Thanks!

I paid separately for spikes/ feet. It was NOT included in the basic price.
I did order dual woofer servo sub. Hope to start the build soon. Will spend this sunday going around the workshops close to my house, showing build pictures to guys there and see if they can do it.

Where can I get liquid nails? What kind of joints are you guys using for sub build? Is there an easy way to round the edges?

Round edges are easy. Nowadays (at least in this part of the country),
lot of carpentry shops have router tables machine, which can do round-over the edges.
Check the guys who make kitchen cabinets or office furniture, as those
shops have the right machines.

so when I join the two MDF pieces on an edge, they can be rounded? I was thinking of additional wood, instead of cutting into mdf.

I recently did rounding of my sub. My carpenter did it with hand using small block plane tool. Later, on I used emery paper it make it proper round.

I still did not do painting. It will look good after applying putty and rubbing two times.

Hey Anm,

If all goes well I should be able to start my sub woofer build today :) and shall start a build thread for the same soon !

Naren

so where are the build threads? Is there any monster thread where we can summarize our build threads?

Hi Guys,
Any bangalore FMs started cabinet build for LS encore?. Looks like the Chennai cabinets as proposed by Captain is getting delayed due to elusive carpenter. Any options available for bangalore to do it jointly here? Patience running out seeing the kits lying idle:sad:

Hi,
Can someone provide the link or post the sealed and ported box plan for SW-12B. Today I have contacted one carpenter who works for Car Dcor shop, I went with the X-LS Encore box plan and seem to be he can take up the work:).

Thanks / Naveen

Quick question for all those who opted for Sonicap upgrades: does the 9 and 12 uF caps have polarity? There is no marking on the Sonicaps nor on the x-over board. I have desoldered one 9uF stock cap to put in a Sonicap. If anyone knows for sure, please advise. I'm not soldering the Sonicaps til I know for sure.
Thanks in advance.

No polarity for sure!. I did not see anything on cap. IMO, They are like PP caps.

No polarity check for PP caps.

Danny's post on crossover 101 on audio circle suggests that while there is no polarity its a good idea to stick to using all the caps in the same direction.

Here's what he says...

It is also good to run all the caps in the same direction even though they are non-polar and work either way. The input and output terminations and such can differ and in some cases it can have some effect on the sound. So run them all in the same direction. Using the print direction works fine.

I was putting together my n3 crossover will upload pics when done.

Hi guys,

I have finally worked out the courier charges payable after deducting the amount of Rs. 5900/- that was left over with me. I have made full payment to the courier agency a few days back.

I have forwarded the details in an XLS format and forwarded to all mail ids of all participants whom I had sent the kits via courier.

I have also forwarded part of the account details to deposit the money.

I would upload all the documents to google documents in due course.

Regards
