Best Hollywood Action Movies which you like or seen:)

Coma is exactly not a pure action movie, but a really good thriller, one of the best with young Michael Douglas..
Yes. You are right. Movies I have mentioned are not through and through action movies. Some are sci-fi action, some suspense thriller with little action, some war action some even westen. Hope OP won't mind. But without good plot (Once upon a time in west had Bernardo Bertolucci at the helm) action would be meaningless. As I am not a movie buff most of the movies I watched with my dad on VHS tape. So posted out of nostalgia. Those were the days. :)
I will end with two more scenes from OUTIW. Though ripped apart when released Once upon a time.. is now considered masterpiece in cinema making.
At the station
The Duel
Warm regards.

Why does it seem like everyone's favorite action flicks are from the 80's and 90's? They just don't make em like they used to!

Terminator 2 is my fav action movie of all time but I gotta say, for a new movie, Deadly Crossing with Steven Seagal is pretty awesome. The fight scenes in it are ridiculous!

If TV Series are being included then

The Pacific (more so because very few movies have been made on Pacific Theatre of Operations I think)
The Unit
The Shield

And, if Hollywood is taken out of the equation then there are a host of HK movies.
Bullet In The Head
For A Better Tomorrow 1&2
Hard Boiled
Killer

@ RunninOnE - How about the MIA series from that vintage?
Possibly most of the Arnold (I'll be bock) Schwarzenegger movies

Missing In Action? I don't think I've seen that. What is it?

Arnold's flicks were classic. Commando. Running man. Total Recall.

Have you seen Deadly Crossing yet?

Very interesting, the OP is looking for pure action movies, and the list here contains quite a few, but there are some which are not, like Ice age, something about mary, etc. Anyway, the list of movies are really some of the best hollywood has ever produced and though they belongs to all genre, not necessarily action.

pretty surprising no one quoted movies like ..

sahara , district B13 , District B13 ultimatum.....

folks watch something off IMDB as well...

crank and crank 2 included... one of my fav... and the wackiest and craziest movies of all time...

transporter series.. , the mechanic , apocalypto... and so on...

i have watched these old movies lately. i prefer old b/w movies for the the wonderful focus on stories and plots, no unnecessary vulgarity. refined humour and creative use of light and shadows..
saw some thrillers fromHitchcock ...
The Man Who New Too Much
Notorious
Shadow of Doubt
The Lady Vanishes
Vertigo
Rebecca
the thirtynine steps

some courtroom thrillers
Witness for the prosecution
anatomy of murder
nuremberg judgments
(great way to get acquainted with history, law and justice)
man for all seasons (learnt more English history through this movie than a text book, check out Orson Wells as Cardinel Wosley)
twelve angry men
in cold blood

and some others (besides Hitchcock)
Night of the hunter
a few Sidney Lumet classics (besides Twelve Angry Men)
The Network, The Apartment (a true classic)
plus some colour movies...
Polanski's Chinatown, The French Connection (Gene Hackman), The Parallax View (Warren Beauty and perhaps the weakest of the lot)My Son My Son What Have you done (strange Werner Herzog movie) Aguirre , the Wrath of God (another Werner Herzog movie, brutal in a controlled way, not a gore fest like Apocalypto), Raising Arizona (a quirky Coen Brothers flick)and The Machurian Candidate (Meryl Streep all the way through)

Geez those are long lists...not ONE of them includes Deadly Crossing with Seagal...what a shame. You guys are totally missing out. Elijah Kane is one of the best action heroes EVER in film.
