Blu Ray Lending Group in Hyderabad

... So I bought a Media player and am using that route
what route?

this poor soul has only 3 blu-rays bought in josh :Dafter getting my PS3.
Dark Knight
Batman Begins
Master and Commander

Not expecting much in return but willing to rotate these 3 BRDs provided they are handled with care by the user.

cheers!!

I dont have a BRD player yet. If this lending thing works out I will buy one Blu ray disc player.

I understand the problem raised by Kevian. I guess everybody on this forum is knowledgeble of handling the BRD's. That is the risk everybody needs to take.

We can create list of Do's and Dont's when we form a union.

Is it possible to create conference call so that All of us can dial in and talk about the rules how to handle the group. Everybody may not show up if we want to meet at a place.

Any more ideas welcome.

Thanks

Taking a step ahead.

No replies so far. Few of them have signed up. Hope to get atleast 10 of them.

Here is the plan.

To begin with everybody will contribute 3-5 movies to start with.

Every month every member adds one Blu ray to the inventory.

Weekly once the blu rays can be exchanged. An exchange can happen for two movies max.

Everymonth whole Inventory ships to a new person. It is like oncall rotation.

People who already have lots of blu ray collection can feed the inventory one by one every month. And those who do not have any need to buy one every month. That way everybody is treated equal.

To start off with two blu rays can be exchanged every week. Once the inventory increases, We can increase the number of exchange per week to 3 or 4.

Risks: People not intrested to maintain the inventory. If not intrested to maintain the inventory, Need not participate in the sharing club.No obligation.

Blu rays getting damaged due to mis handling or something else. We all need to be prepared for that. May be we can create list of Do's and donts in handling the Blu rays.

I guess till now 3 or 4 have shown intrest and I guess more will be intrested.

Let us see the response and finalize the rules.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Thanks

I wish you all the best. What you are doing is not legal. But I am not against you. My advice is do whatever you wish in private. :) Best not to be discussed in open forums.

why isin't it legal ??

we arent selling blu rays... just sharing.. it cant be illegal in anyway...

its illegal to make copies of the same.. and not to share the original paid copy...

Then every video rental store should shut their shops. None of the dvd's they buy have the permission to rent them out from the distributors.

It is not public showing meaning, if we want to display in a congregation than it is illegal. Back of the dvd says it that, it legal for private viewing only.

I guess we are not going to do public showing anyways right!!!

Thanks

What you are doing is free rental. Look on every DVD/BD. It says "not for rental". This is a very thin end of the wegde.

As far as rental shops go, let us not take example of the typical Indian rental shops on the corner of the street. They do almost everything illegally. But proper rental shops shich as Bigflix, etc. pay a high rate for DVDs/BDs, etc. They also have to share their revenue with the distributors. At least that is how Blockbuster Video, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Google TV PPV, Apple TV PPV, etc. work.

But I am not a lawyer or lawkeeper. I have no objections to what you do. :) I just know for a fact that it is not legal. All I am saying is whatever you do, do it quietly via PMs, etc. This forum could(?) get into trouble if such a thing is openly discussed, encouraged. And that is all of us should care about.

Absolutely. We do not encourage any activity that borders on breaking copyright laws in whatever way. Please take all discussions, if any, offline.

Cheers
