Hi Guys ,

Most of you must be blue ray movies freak ,
Which first movie should i pik to play in my New . HDMI tv .
Is it also available on rent in india ..NCR/noida/Delhi . ?

Thanks for your replies ..

I am afraid not much Blu-Ray content available here unless you can order from Amazon or have someone in the U. S. who can bring in stuff. Saawariya is a good start I suppose though I personally did not like the movie. Still the visuals are stunning and gorgeous to behold and watch in HD.

If you have a BR player (Blu-Ray) by the way, and some cash burning through your pocket, I would highly recommend the following 2:

Planet Earth - Complete series for the most phenomenol nature show yet.

Blu-ray.com - Planet Earth: The Complete Collection Blu-ray

Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind - 30th Ann. Ultimate Edition

Close Encounters of the Third Kind - Official Site

Dark Knight if you like action.

Or one of the Pixar animation movies colours would look brilliant in HD.

Any Pixar production would look awesome in Blue Ray

You can get Blue Ray disks in Blr.

2 movies that are a must in Blu-Ray...

Transformers & Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines!

Awesome action and great sound FX. Transformers is a personal favorite of mine.

Yeah looking ahead for Dark knight and Transformers....

One more question , my player is PS3 , would i have to look for region codes for these movies , or are they region fre..

Let me understand this right. You want to play a Blu-Ray disc on a PS3? Is that what you are looking at? If so, that is not possible.

Just to clarify, a genuine BR disc will cost around 1800 to 2000 rupees. And, it needs a special player called a Blu-Ray player.

If you are looking at Blu-Ray copies that are available in the market (Stone and other HK companies), please be careful. The street vendors have got very smart. Every English, and most Hindi movies are now available with a Blu-Ray jacket. These are not genuine Blu-Ray discs but just ordinary DVDs. Some of them (particularly English) have been copied from original Blu-Ray discs, but the bulk are just ordinary DVDs. The vendors are trying to make money with the sudden interest in the public for 'better quality' but changing the jacket color. Someone is mass printing the disc labels with Blu-Ray insignia.

Cheers

Vista, my sincere apologies. You CAN play Blu-Ray discs on the PS3. I am sorry about that erroneous statement.

Cheers

Some unusual recommendations:

  • Casino Royale (Sounds good on uncompressed PCM)
  • Legends of Jazz: Showcase (Excellent Audio)
  • High School -2 (Excellent Audio and Video)
  • Bee Movie (Excellent Audio and Video)
  • Across the Universe (Good songs)
  • Saawariya (Fine Video, Audio not so good)
  • Ratatouille (good animation)
  • Troy (great visuals)

Note: Please make sure you are using the HD audio tracks

Thanks,
Sharad

AVSFORUM.COM rates every blu ray released based on various parameters. If you are looking at a movie to enjoy, then just go on and buy one irrespective of the quality. But since i presume you posted this question to get a technically good audio visual experience, i would suggest you to have a look at that site. Jus to endorse moserw, Saawariya is used as a video reference by some enthusiasts, especially for its dominating " BLUE" (no pun :)))feel all the movie.

Also, if anyone is planning to buy Blu Ray movies from international online sites like amazon etc. then you can check this site to check if a movie is region free or not!!!

@skdmrk , it was great link .. thnks man .. that is what i was looking for ..

@realactivex , avsforum actually found it quite interesting to look into different parameters..user reviews were also there.. great man .

@Smedhavi , I would be looking frwd for Transformers and Casino Royale..

;-) .. wil post my experience with these movies soon ...

Thanks guys for replies..
