hi sonal2323,

think of the audioengine as an active loudspeaker with amplification optimized for the enclosure and driver - and

the topping t20 amp as an amplifier which is good value for money, and which can drive different loudspeakers which are suited to it's specifications ( in a sense, if you buy the topping - you can choose different partners - but when you buy audioengine you are stuck with that)

to the contrary - audioengine is superbly compact and easy to use - you only need a suitable source - and as stevieboy has suggested - the airport express would be an elegant solution - without the mess of wiring..

and yes - the sound signatures of these two would be very different - so you must listen to the specific configuration you will buy- preferable in your room.

that said - i think - that the audioengine + airport express will suit your needs best.:)

regds

oh yes - for your needs - any DVD player will do -

Friend i dont have the privilage of lestening to any of these systems...what will i buy will be pure basesed on reviewes on this site..

:)if i am right ..airport express can only stream music from pc or it can stream music from dvd also..

:)is audition of audioengine and CA dv99 possible...???

mine is a 12x12 dadicated room and one thing is ,i should not feel outdated after purchasing the system...i should be able to upgrade also...

:)Will i feel compromised after purchasing audioengine A5 ???

hi sachin....good evening...

whats your call on my question...?:licklips::licklips:

My answer:
CA DV99 : 14k
Norge 2060 : 10K with remote
Norge Millenium Bookshelf : 12K or Wharfedale 9.2 ~15K

Total : 36K/39k

Since you are visiting mumbai audition the Norge 2060 at Mahim. Call before you go since they may not have the amp ready.

yes airport express is only for pcs/macs. with a dvd player you wont need it. use the dvd left right analog outputs and plug them into the audioengine speakers.

regards

Whats your opinion about audio engine A5...reviews are very exciting..

Will i be purchasing it to avoid the technicality of assambling amp+source+speakers or i will be compromisong on good quality sound ???

hi sonal,

from what i've read the audioengine's are good speakers. i have not heard them, like you i'm going by online reviews. they seemed to suit your requirement of wireless music, less cables. don't think you'd be compromising since they've got good reviews. however if you can listen to em always better since you'll get a sense of how they sound.

in the budget you've mentioned there are few good speakers like wharfedale diamond 9.1, mordaunt short ms 901is, tannoy mercury custom (f1?) but then you need to pair these with good amp and source, whereas with the audioengine you can do away with the amp cost. all in all listen to em if you can, bajaao has an office in andheri mumbai since you're going there, drop in.

regards

You can buy the A5s confidently, but considering the combo of the Topping TP20 _ CA S30 comes to only 12k rupees.....versus the 19k rupees....and you also have the flexibilty of changing the amp or the speakers later......that's also a compelling option that you should consider.

But you won't go wrong with the A5. I've owned the A2, and it's superb for the money. Although I haven't heard the A5 i am quite confident it will be excellent value.

CA DVD99 was suggested so you have a good quality source and your entire chain will be pretty good. If necessary you can use your current DVD player for the moment and upgrade to the CA or another dedicated CDP later.

Let me sound like a condescending p**** and say I love how you've adapted to the hifivision way of doing things so easily :) welcome aboard man, i'm sure you'll love your stay here.

@Sonal: I have been following this thread for a bit now... Brother, you seem to be asking more and more and more questions after every recommendation. This way you will kill yourself with confusion.

IMHO, what you need to do is kill the questions by listening to the suggestions. Try and audition the sets that some of the very highly experienced members have suggested to you.

All will become clear after that.

In the end its not about what Suri, or Dinyaar or Malvai or Sid_trehan feel about the recommendation. It's about what Sonal feels. It's what sounds good to Sonal's ears. Because, it's Sonal who will have to live with the sound till his next upgrade!

And yes, please do share with us what you choose in the end and why. Because, each of us learns from the experience.

Hello bade bahi suri

I can understand your frustrations..

But what to do yaar..

once i purchase sony or any thing like that i will be out of hifi vision...

and you people will sing...
yaar hamara tha woh...
kahaan geya uuse dhoondo....

i dont want that..

please bear with me for some time..

i reside in a small town in orissa where i dont have the privillage of listening to any of these systems yor are recommending...
even i cant listen to sony systems also...

I am not a technical person also to understand combination of Amp + speakers

so what i will purchase will be purely depend upon you people..

more over i can purchase anything at pune/mumbai after 12th april only..

so before that please bear with me...

I am sure with you people around i can not go wrong...

thanks

yes sonal,

please listen to anm, brother suri has been blacklisted by the Silversmiths Association of Kannur for corrupting their members into moving over to the dark side and dabbling in black arts like making very innovative binding posts. reports from kannur indicate that silversmiths are leaving their employers to go overseas to work at WBT.
