Building my Home Theatre Room - Please guide me

Curved Screen with acoustically transparent cloth would be just fantastic. You will also need curved seating and risers to get the best out of the experience.

yes, this will be the first priority in my dream HT room (not now). Also with rear projection. This requires a reasonably big room, basement is the best option.

There you go again. Makes me wonder if you work for Sony's PS3 Marketing division:lol:. Will pick up GT5-prologue soon after my salary credit. Another 7 days to go:)

PS: I almost missed your post mate as I posted immediately after and my post was in a new page.

Ah no worries, anyways the NASCAR and WRC will be only in the complete release which is scheduled during March 10 in Japan. BTW did you get the photographs done

No, the living room should look like a living room. What i am trying to do in my living room is to look like a living room aesthetically and can be converted to an HT room w/ acoustics.

Everybody who want to convert their living room thinking will be like that:) I am also in the same gang:lol:

I am using projector for last 5 years in my living room which is mounted in ceiling. It only showcase me that i am using the living rooms for watching in big screen which i could not hide due to my cable constraints and throw position. My fixed screen in the wall is covered with an big size painted picture and will be rolled out while watching the movie, no body know there is a screen there.. All my AVR/DVD's/PS3/VCR were kept in dark tinted glass racks. floor standers i could not hide, still i kept flower pot so it will not attract much anybody. My woofer is covered with an big box which is still used for siting by side of the sofa in the corner for extra guest and it is the playing place for my kid too...:)

We have to live with that, few guys vinay, santhosh, subhash, sumit, are having dedicated ET/HT.. we will wait till we get a chance to do like that....Nothin harm in living with that, still we hear music...but not with exact way how should it should be listened....:licklips:

I cannot go for a fixed screen, i have a 50" lcd to wall mount. I am trying to design it with acoustics (glass wool \ poly fiber) along w/ some diffusers (all DIY) in the living room. Let me see how it goes..

Recently i have gone with Motorized projector + next month Plasma/LCD TV, so all the arrangements were getting modified to give a fresh Living room look... I have included budget for this time plasma lift/ Projector lift / half carpet / Ceiling tiles...

Got the Panoview 16:9 120" screen yesterday. It is indeed really large.

I met the distributer here in bangalore for Optoma, paid Rs 13,500 for the screen. Another 500 to transport it home.

It seems the Optoma HD20 comes with 1 year warranty, insurance, free lamp for Rs 9X,XXX. It was pretty convincing, why buy in grey for 60k + 20k (lamp) ?

Anyway, got my WD Live also, so this weekend hopefully I will get everything connected and share some photos.

Fantastic price on the screen mate:cheers:

Your living room is very very tastefully done. You do have a challenge in making the Panoview screen look good or discreet in a room that is so aesthetically decorated:). Nothing is impossible, I am sure you'll have something chalked out. Keep us posted buddy.

Hi Readdream,

Congratulation for your purchase.. As santhosh indicated your living room is good and make sure you fix the screen without loosing the charm of the room.

Do post the pics of the modification what you are doing in the living room to accomadate the screen.

Could you please post close up Pic of the AV/LCD rack...It looks good.

Regards

Hi A/V Enthusiasts,

As you may have read in my recent introduction message, I am building a dedicated entertainment Room. The size of the room is about 15x12 feet in size and has a height of about 8.5 feet.

Since this is a dedicated entertaiment room, I intend to get it treated for acoustics (both sound proofing and sound improvement). So, I need your suggestions on how I should proceed with acoustic treatment for this room.

Currently, the civil work is still going on and the structure has just been completed. Yesterday, I took a day off from work to get the electrical conduits laid. Here are some pictures that I shot yesterday with my mobile camera (please excuse the quality of pics):

Front Wall (seperate electrical conduits laid for electrical and A/V cabling)

Left Wall (There is a window to the left of the picture)

Right Wall (Has one more window which cannot be seen in this pic. There are so many windows here as the area below used to be a garden)

Right Wall (This is the third window)

Back Wall (Opening behind ladder is the entrance to the room)

Yes, there are a lot of factors to be considered while building a Home Theater. These factors have been covered to the best of my ability in this thread itself. Have a read when you get a chance.

If you have had a good experience with Pro-FX, leave a review in the Dealer's section. That should help HFV members..Thanks

Thanks for your kind offer Ashish. But Teky PMed me after seeing my msg saying he is sending me a GT5 Prologue as a gift. I am overwhelmed by "ever ready to help" nature and generosity of HFV members. Thanks guys. May our tribe increase.

Ashish\Teky\Others, could you please some nice PS3 Racing games to buy. My Sal was credited today;)

Try Burnout Paradise - It's plain outright fun. Youtube it for some videos, It's pure maniac in my opinion. Don't need the ultimate edition - the plain vanilla edition should be fine. This is also one of the best looking racing game on the PS3 (Apart from GT5).

The game is confined to Paradise city where you race around to get shunted by opponents, you shuting them, jumps, crashes etc. Online is fun as well, Hope you've signed up for a PSN ID. Do sign-up using UK PSN as I believe there isn't an Indian version yet.

A review from IGN is below (I don't believe IGN myself lot )
YouTube - Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box Review

But if you want the game to be purist and then get GRID. It's a polished game to run around tracks. Online community is still alive and pretty decent. You've choices of American Muscles to Japanese vehicles to run around the tracks.

YouTube - PS3 Race Driver GRID Game Play

There are other title like F1 championship edition and NFS Shift which are decent enough.

Also here's the link for Dirt we've been discussing

Do I see games being discuessed here....:D cant be left out. If you ask me No game Beats GRID and NFS Shift. After huge success of NFS:MW and subsequent failures finally EA hit the right spot with NFS Shift. GRID was already riding on to it success and Shift was a nice come back. Burnout paradise is good as well and can be very addictive. GTA is an all together different genre.

@santol2 try out following if you already have not tried either of these...There games or more of simulation rather than Arcade, though with tweaking they can also be enjoyed as an Arcade.

In no particulart order....

1. NFS : Shift
2. DIRT 2
3. GRID
4. NFS : MW (totally arcade)
5. NFS : UG 2 (Arcade)
6. Burnout Paradise (Arcade)
7. Moto GP 08
8. GTR 2
9. Moto GP 07

I can think off only there right now, if you want more I can dig to get you more.. :D

GRID was by Codemasters and not EA If I remember correctly, very polished game and still has got a very good online community. Unlike the Shift which has all dangerous one's :D:

I used to play only racing games and was having my doubts whether to include gaming into my entertainment room. Thanks to teky, the decision was easy and I am now a convert:). Thanks for the list Sammy, yet to get hooked in to games.
