Only thing about sony is price. Try acer 6510. Getting good reviews in projector central.

dlp excels in this area,,the film likme image..of course not every model..quality increases with price..
now decide what will suit you..

How About Benq W1070 ? About the service one of the dealer honestly told me that service support is not good with any of the brands .

All,

Today i tested with my SONY HW50ES (Ofcourse higher price)
So far i have a mind set that, projector never been equivalent to Cinema hall PQ (No JPEG artifacts compared to TV).

It is absolute real movie watching experience with higher brightness & contrast.
Really superb. Just projected on a wall with putty & primer.

Lcos technology is mixing of DLP + LCD. If you have deep packets go for Lcos.
Otherwise go for DLP. IMO sony HW50ES is better than JVC X-35.
But JVC higher end models beat sony, Still JVC is No.1 in higher segments.

How is 3D exp with HW50ES ? Somehow HW30ES did not look that good for that price. 2D was good. Cinema Like. 3D was not good etal. Specially the close up scenes ( Alice in wonderland ). 3D was not that bright and cross talk / ghost images were surely there.May be the emitter they say was not plugged in properly . Tested BenQ W1070 back to back and it was much better for that price !!

Epson TW 8100 is a good choice if u want 3D but the price you are saying 1.3L seems to be wrong. I think the dealer has not included tax and later will add it. Please ensure price including all taxes and check the credibility of the dealer. Product is good no doubt

The offer was till 31st July, All incl. No more. I lost the opportunity !!

For only 2D any comparisons on Mits HC4000 and Epson TW3600 ? Both have same pricing .

I have not tested the HW50ES 3D. Still the room is not ready. If 3D is your primary thing, go for Benq W7000. (Top choice for 3D projector)

Benq W1070 is the entry level with low level contrast. Stay in mid range and above.

Is Benq W 7000 available in India ? What price ? Contrast ratio for this is 50k:1 while for TW8100 it is 300k:1. Does this make TW8100 a better choice ?

of course 300k is better than 50k..
case is or fact is..how reliable these numbers are

..and how practical is it to dictate models based on the fact they will be performing in our rooms..not in the test rooms, where from these numbers has been derived..

so a demo is very helpful

Yes, Prosenjit says correct.

If you want higher contrast DLP, go for Mitsubushi. But their best mode lumens are less compared to Benq. Even Benq W7000 is the brightest best mode, Its dynamic irris is poor (Visible/Noticable Constrast changes) compared to others.

In general all the projectors having pros & cons. (Nothing is perfect)

Projector Technologies

1. Single chip DLP are praised for their sharpness (Negative: Rainbow, average contast)
2. LCD are praised for their high dynamic contrast (Negative: Smooth image,Color shift, Screen door, Panel alignment issues)
3. LCos are praised for their Higher Native contrast & Film like image. (Negative: Smooth Image,Panel alignment issues)

Note: In general when we switch over from watching TV to projector screen, the first thing our brain will feel the lack of sharpness and then contrast compared to our TV viewing experince.

Key points to consider selecting projector.

1. Your Screen size
2. Based on your screen size, what is the required "best mode" lumens output. (Not the projector lumens output)
3. Image Sharpness + Skin tone.
4. Contrast (This you can increase more and more by setting the dark ambience to the room)
5. If you are a gammer, You need to consider "Lag Time" also.
6. If you are a keen to the beauty of image - (Some thing like WOW), Then stick to MID to HIGH end.
7. If you are not bothering the image/PQ, Just immerse on movie screen play (Our brain primary engagement than PQ) and story. Then you can buy entry level 1080P projectors.

Now i am eager to know what is the projector you are going to select?

Thanks a lot Swamy. Valuable inputs. Unfortunately Pune do not have much stock for the demo. I could not test any of the Epson's which is supposed to be a mkt leader.

The few models I could demo are Sony HW30, Benq w1070 and Mits hc4000.

Benq (Ruled out - Though high on lumens but after all tuning and calibration, it shows some digital noise. The colors too do not seem to be natural. True Blacks were not as impressive as Sony and Mits), For only 2D Mits HC4000 is a good bargain though an old horse now ( For smooth, digital noise free, better skin tone, better blacks and better natural colors PQ ). Sony is awesome for 2D and one of the best in Cinema like PQ but again for the 2nd time I could not get convnced with the 3D.This time with one of the best 3D BD ( Deep Sea ). PQ is not that bright

3D is not my 1st choice. I was only trying to have it now rather than going for an upgrade later.

I am still waiting to have demo from the mkt leader of TW3600 / 8100 . Else I might go for Mits HC4000 ( If purchased from India ) or HC7800 ( I will go with amazon for that )

Hi MZB, have you zeroed in on the model ? I am also looking to buy one ......

Not yet Ravi. Shortlisted Sony (if I go for 3D) and Mits HC4000 (for 2D only). Still waiting for demo from Epson. Though the reviews for 2D are in favour of Sony and Mits but I do not want to go ahead with either of them before having a demo of Epson .

Finally you could finalize!
Congratulations and welcome to the big screen club. :clapping:

Please share your observations compared with your earlier demoed projectors (Benq, Sony & Mits).

Demo Verdict :
Beats Benq W1070 on overall performance. Color. Brightness. Digital Noise . Contrast level. Upscaling .
Beats Sony HW30 on 3D brightness and cost for the same PQ in 2D. Also in size.
Beats Mits HC4000 on additional feature of 3D for a difference of 20k. Higher lumens. Better contrast.

Overall Good to eyes on first impression with very little adujstments/ caliberations / ease to handle and service level . I read in one of the old post by Sribuddy where epson replaced the PJ for some issues in PQ .

Will post detailed review and pics once I exprience Epson's True Performance at Home !!!
