Hi all,

At the moment I have my PS3 connected directly to the TV via HDMI. If I connect it to the AVR and from there to the TV, will there be a difference in picture quality (degradation) due to the routing. The AVR is MArantz SR7005 which has a good quality Anchor Bay video processor.
Comments pls.

Thanks

Sunny

The PS3 O/p can be sent to the AVR and AVR to Display. If you are playing 1080p content, then you can set the HDMI setting to passthru so that the AVR does no processing.

If its mixed content, (DVD, downloads...) of lower than 1080p, then you can experiment and check both options of upscaling at the player and then at the avr and see the difference. The AVR should be better, but the PS3 is no slouch.

Passing video and audio through AVR will prevent any lipsync related issues compared to sending PS3 video direct to TV and audio to AVR.
