I auditioned the jbl synthesis ls80 floorstanders and they blew me away.i was looking to choose between the GE triton 2, paradigm studio 100 or the kef r700.its a question I had posted here a month ago....so while auditioning alot of speakers the sales guy told me why don't you hear these..jbl synthesis ls80. I was skeptical cause it was JBL a mass market commercial brand. ..I thought how will they hold up to the likes of kef, dali, ,ge, paradigm, focal.well I was pleasantly surprised. Since starting the post 'paradigm studio 100 vs kef r700 vs ge triton 2' I have heard the B&W CM9, focal electra 1027 be, , monitor audio gx200, dali mentor 8 n the jbl synthesis ls80(going to write impressions on each one soon) the ones that really impressed me in every department were the jbl synthesis ls80.they are really freaking good.i mean they just dissappear n all I can hear is the music coming from no where and the imaging is brilliant.its also in the same price range...but I'm surprised they are never mentioned or suggested . People like me looking for speakers in this price bracket check em out

Hey chirag, d quest for the ultimate speaker still continues ha..
Jbl traditionally are ht speakers rather than speakers for music. But then again it's down to what you liked d most.
Did you Happen to audition the kef's again??

Too many assumptions/misconceptions about JBL. JBL manufactures variety of audio gear for different applications from car audio to commercial cinema, from ipod docs to expensive stereo setups, from live concerts to studios. Most of the authoring studios use their gear and they are a big player in commercial space. If their speakers are good for mastering, what makes you think those are not good for music?

The amount of research JBL has done in audio theory and setup is mind blowing. I haven't see any other co conducting so much research and publishing papers. And certainly not the boutique audio brands that dwell on audiophile wizardry than science.

If you don't know, JBL owns Lexicon, Mark Levinson, Revel brands. Do look these up and also their complete Synthesis line.

+1 Manoj,

IMHO i cant categorize JBL in BOSE Club. JBL were one of the leading Brands in 80's, and more towards Professional audio. I think Professional audio making needs more research and cost compared to consumer market components. I reckon JBL moved form Professional to Consumer market, so the implement their research even in Consumer products on HI-END components or atleast in Entry level.

Its better to think on SQ and brand is not a big issue, if you really love music rather just to "SHOW CASE" your buying ability.

I would say am proud owner of JBL speaker which is "EVER TEEN" sounding even after 23 years.Never felt to upgrade them,My sweet babies:)

Hey hussain.how are you...they may be H.T speakers but they are just as good with music powered by a nad 375 be 2 ch amp . They are in the top 3 speakers I'm considering.no dudei haven't gone to hear the kef again.but im going to listen to the dali mentor 8 in 45 mins:)

Hemant,

I just mentioned their expensive brands which cater to audiophile segment. Mainly because the question of musicality of their gear was brought up.

JBL does have a product at almost every price point.
