According to the ProFX website, Denon 1311 will be available from 20th September, priced at 25ks (I'm sure, can be negotiated). The features are quite similar to 1611. And, there is a Denon headphone free too!!!

Hi,
I just checked the comparison between 1311 & 1611 on Denon UK website.
The only 2 missing features i could find are:
1. HDMI CEC compatible --- (not avbl in 1311)
2. Audio Return Channel (ARC) --- (not avbl in 1311)
Other than these two, both appear to be identical right upto their weight.

Can anybody throw some light on whether the above 2 features are important?

HMDI CEC can be a useful feature to control your HDMI connected components through one another. For example, you can change the volume of the receiver by using the TV remote volume controls, switch off the receiver and BD/DVD player when you switch off the TV and so on.

I say " can be" because in real life, it does not always work as it should and I have disabled the feature in my system.

The Audio Return channel can help you reduce an extra digital audio cable coming in from the TV for sources that you have directly connected to the TV, but that would only be of use if you have HDMI 1.4 support on your TV to begin with.

I have brochures of both. The rear panel of the 1611 looks sparser than the rear panel of the 1311:

The 1311 is available for Rs. 25 odd thousand, from what I have heard.

Am skeptical about the performance of these budget receivers from the big 3 manufacturers, especially at the highly inflated prices we're paying here.

In that case, I don't think it is worth spending 6-8K extra just for these features.
Actually I am planning to purchase and had almost made up my mind to go for 1611 (or the cheaper 1610 if available anywhere). And then comes this new 1311 model with identical features as 1611.
My only suspicion is that if MRP of 1311 is appx 25K compared with 1611 at 32K, there must be some other catch which is we are missing to justify such a huge price gap. Otherwise, why would anybody (or atleast most) buy 1611 instead of 1311?

link for the comparison on UK website:

If nothing wrong with the website then only 2 difference as mentioned before:

1) HDMI CEC missing in 1311
2) Audio Return channel missing in 1311

There is significant difference in front and back panels:

1) Source select dial and menu direction buttons on the front panel is missing in 1311
2) Connections at the back panel are arranged differently.. everything is cluttered at Left side on 1311

Looked at the 2 sheets linked above just now, here are some additional differences as I can see:

1611 has Audyssey MultiEq Auto Setup and Audyssey Dynamic Volume. A very good feature to have to calibrate your receiver to YOUR room conditions. Of course, it is possible to do the settings manually, but Audyssey really works wonders in my opinion.

1311 on the other hand, has an additional component in, a component out (which is missing in the 1611) and one more analog audio input (the stereo mini jack) when compared to the 1611. Whether you need these inputs or not, would depend on your current equipment capabilities.

Presence of Audyssey MultiEq Auto Setup and Audyssey Dynamic Volume on 1311 is doubtful but not yet ruled-out.
As per the comparison chart on UK website, this feature is available on both models but it is nowhere mentioned in the Product Leaf (pdf file).

I'm still looking very carefully at the 1311, the 1611 and Yamaha's new 467. I'm also looking at Yamaha's 465. But I'm a bit suspicious of what I'd be missing with such basic receivers.

Also, can these receivers deliver a bang for the buck or is just a fizzle? :p
