diy down firing Vs Front firing subwoofer - how does the compliance (stiffness) & motor strength, gravity etc effect?

hello All, I am about to cut material for subwoofer.
If I make it down firing, my box calculations are still valid ?
I mean, the motor has to move the driver up&down against gravity.
So what changes can we expect in down firing Vs front firing?
Compliance will also change?

Any suggestions please ?

The cone and motor does not care what direction the driver is mounted or the port is mounted.
