I have finished a Single Ended Amp with EL84s recently for one my Friend. Use normal Simple single ended design with point to point wiring.Parts are imported from Mouser, Parts Express, EDCOR and Tube depot.Single Ended performance with High efficiency speakers really amazing. This amp can drive 90db or more efficiency speakers well, but 93db speakers are perfect. I used NOS BEL EL84 tubes for output and 5U4G for tube rectification. Sovtek 6922 for Driver tube. Output power 2.5Watt @ 8 Ohms. I am giving some Build pics link

Hi Raghu,

Superb build as always.:clapping:

The amp will be a very good match with the JBL 2440/1 drivers that you have.

Regards
Rajiv

Great build Raghu:) How much did the Edcor OPT cost? What schematic was used?

Was not aware that you have taken the vintage horn route. What horn and LF driver you are using with the JBL compressors?

Hope you do not mind so many questions:)

Regards,

Custom ordered EDCOR OPTs cost around 130$ a pair Included Shipping to India.
Recently visited my hometown and asked my relative for the closed theaters near by (Most of the theaters are converted to Function halls), We found one theater with JBL 2441 Horns and Local made LF drivers.
I picked only Horns from the theater. Currently not using JBLs Looking for LFs setup. One of my Chennai friend has collected Altec 416 8B for me, planing a small trip to Chennai and will Collect those Drivers.
Thank you
Raghunadh

What preamp is it being paired with?

Rajesh,
I preferred it with out any preamp, it has already a volume control to control signal gain. Now using some times DCB1 with CNC preamp. I am using CDP without pre. Will plan another good DIY tube pre.

Thank you
Raghunadh

Very nicely done Raghu.

Projects like this are not only inspiration for potential DIYers but the aesthetics/finish also raise the bar for potential amp builders in India. Bijin's Hiraga build is also another such.

Excellent build. Super finish and am sure will sound excellent as well.

PS: Just noticed that you are from Hyderabad. Mind if I pay you a visit to experience the Amp?
Let me know :)

As always excellent build nraghunadh.
Thanks for sharing the pictures of old cinema house. Reminds me of the movie 'Cinema Paradiso'. If anyone remembers it came on doordarshan long back I guess.
