Its HD, TS have messed up the interlacing flag!
Also is TS HD 3D ready too ?
The SunDirect HD set-top box has a optical out instead of a coaxial out.Any DTH box which can decode 5.1 audio without a coaxial cable?
I would presume that all HD set-top boxes from all DTH companies, except for TataSky and Dish TV, should be able to output DD 5.1 audio thru HDMI. The TataSky HD set-top box (non DVR) used to be able to do so, before the genuises at TataSky decided to provide a firmware update that blocked this ability. As for Dish TV, the reason is quite simply because they don't have DD 5.1 audio, period.
NONE of the HD STBs are HDMI 1.4. They are just putting across a GIMMICK that they are "3D Ready"! In reality they will just pass Side By Side 3D through HDMI or component or composite or any God Damn form we could get video to 3D TVs for the TV to decode the side by side images to native 3D! STB wouldn't know if its decoding and passing 3D SIDE BY SIDE images, it will treat them as any other regular 2D images. This way ANY VIDEO source is 3D Ready and its just a gimmick these providers are passing like the upscaling drama.guys,
my subscription with TS HD is getting over in 2 months. I was looking to purchase a 3D tv soon. I noticed that D2H has a 3D channel called Active HD 3D.
Videocon also says it's Box is 3D ready. Does this mean it's equipped with Hdmi 1.4a ?
Also is TS HD 3D ready too ?
Thanks
I believe you meant the other way - Passing through 5.1 thru HDMI WITHOUT DECODINGAny DTH box which can decode 5.1 audio without a coaxial cable?
Unfortunately, THEY ARE! Same issue exist on Airtel as well. Seems the same VENDOR (cozily pampered by these operators) provides software to both.Airtel requires a coaxial. Hope they are not using same software.
Lets not go by the number game. Just the number doesn't tell us the entire truth, infact it can not tell anything about the CAPACITY of each TP. Airtel and Tatasky use LEASE CAPABLE TPs as I know and Dish TV and Videocon use very high bandwidth TPs which are almost twice as faster/wider than TS or Airtel! So that makes their actual number as compared to TS and Airtel, TWICE!@rana kirti
1 If you want the best PQ reliance is the way to go,about the customer service i have both airtel and reliance dth and both are pretty much the same.
2 Dish tv has the highest number of transponders 13 but they use lesser efficient Mpeg2 for SD channels and Mpeg4 for HD.
Airtel has the second highest number of transponders 12 and they are also using a more efficient mpeg4 compression. So they have the potential to give the highest number of channels hd or sd.
Tata Sky cannot add any more HD channels since they have a capacity crunch, they have 12 transponders but other then HD channels all SD channels use MPEG2.
Reliance has 9 transponders (unconfirmed reports say that they have 2 to 3 more transponders in contract)they also use Mpeg4 ,but they have the best picture quality of all DTH.
Videocon has the least amount of transponders 6 ,so there picture quality isn't good with multiple reports of pixelation.
So as of now airtel future looks good, but they don't have the best picture quality.
