Floorstanding Speakers or Studio Monitors?

I may be blamed for 'blasphemy' but I truly like the AL 5021 for its 'fun sound'
It is a great computer speaker that plays club tracks & hindi commercial songs very well - like Zandu Balm kinds....
The only drawback is that is does not play 'loud'
The speaker options you are looking @ will not give you the bass of the 5021 but the high freq will surely be smoother....
If you want a 'free' solution, mount the 2 5021's next to your LCD & forget all this audio junk... You may be better off with just good music - no need to tread down the 'audiophile' path - it may only give to you dis contentment - imho...

Plz reply me of my second last post

hmm so which one of the three - Monitor Audio BX2, Polk Audio RTi A3 and PSB Image B6 will give me the bass quantity like MX-5021 though I think bass quality will be better than MX5021's and double or tripple clarity than the MX-5021?

tell me now plz

I keep the bass and treble level on starting level of 3rd point on mx5021 controller

What is the manufacturing date of ur MX-5021, My MX-5021 does play real loud without any distortion. My MX-5021's manufactured date is july 2007.

Thumb rule - under 200 sq. ft. use a book sheft & above 200 sq. ft. go for a floor stander.
While that is usually true, there are some bookshelf speakers which fill even fairly large rooms. I for one have Accoustic Portrait two way bookshelf speakers
which use Vifa drivers which I play in my 14' x 22' drawing room. The bass response it really full and tight. In fact, I have to pull them to about 2-3 feet into the room to tame the bass.

abhi_jollyguy good u cut off quad 11l2 from your list i read some reviews many saying that its a very transparently flat speakers which are good to hear how ur electronics sound which has to be good means costly ones and bad recordings will sound bad and great will sound great! i auditioned it with nad 325bee which does give emphasis on bass and i thought bass was pretty good enough for music as music wont go below 50hz its pointless why people go for a sub.

can anyone help me and abhi_jollyguy with BS in this range which will go lower than 11L2s ?

I think Monitor Audio BX2 or PSB Image B6 can go low:rolleyes:

Hey Abhi

I sincerely advice you to hold your horses and buy ONLY AFTER extended auditions, multiple ones if time permits otherwise it is like going on a blind date. You may end up with disappointment. Trust me, speaking from experience.

Abhi ,

I second what captain said .. If you can please wait and make a purchase after some auditions.

On a side note NAD amp and PSB image make a perfect combo

Guys My main problem is - I cannot audition any speaker before buying coz such kinda speakers are not available in my city.

I cannot travel 1200 - 1400 kms only to audition speaker set.

I can buy only on ur opinions.

so how is PSB Image B6? and which amp will be the best with it?

how is norge 1000 amp with it?

I had bought those speakers on impulse as I was taken in by the build quality. That the mids were sounding thin and distant became very apparent once I did an A-B comparison with my DIY tower speakers. I was playing them with Class D Audio kit amp. I then made some mods about which, you can read HERE

I was lucky to discover a gem of a vintage Luxman Amp which now drives these speakers. The match is really made in heaven and it sounds, well, heavenly. Even the I/C and speaker cables make a very perceptible difference.

Oops, I think my first line got deleted by some mistake. I was talking about Accoustic Portrait bookshelf speakers that I bought some time ago. I have explained a bit of my mods on the thread whose link I had provided in my previous post.

abhi_jollyguy u go for PSB and NAD combo if its not possible for u to audition its a perfect mach many people say that, so play safe. and for ur movie experience NAD will be better than norge because NAD has dynamic airy sound with powerful lows! 325/326bee does i auditioned it. it will fill your room with dynamic movie sound or maybe it will not ask users. i am not recommending i am just telling you to play safe!

Guys, Suggest me that which AMP will be suitable to drive PSB Image B6 while considering that my budget is not that much.

will listen to approx. 12 feet only

here is the list of AMPs:

1. Norge 1000
2. Cambridge Audio Azur 340A
3. NAD C315BEE
4. Cambridge Audio Azur 550A
5. NAD 326BEE

Can I drive PSB Image B6 speaker with Norge 1000 or Cambridge Audio Azur 340A to reveal it's full potential?
