You should look at the entry level ayon cd07. Its a very good cd player with digital inputs for not much more than the ones you are considering. To my ears at least it sound in a different league compared to any marantz or quad. ARN systems in bangalore is the distributor for the same.

I don't know if you can get the NAD M51 for your budget, but was very impressed when I heard it at Lakozy.

If you have the option of importing from abroad then take a look at the TEAC UD-501

dear mukesh bhai

i am using it for nearly 15 days say around 20 hours of listening

cons;- it does not play so many of my regualr cds or mp3
i have to play it on another player route it thru 8004 you get the sound
pros;- sound quality of those cds which i can play on 8004 is bliss

mukesh bhai you need to hear the quality ,it is hevanly

those strings, tablas, taals, with vocals, ah it has made me work more

dear friend greetings
it depends upon our attitude , i wanted good cd player with mp3 format, with good dac after going thru this forum and what hi fi i purchased 8004 . since i stay in small town i could not audition it before.
sq wise i am very happy, regular cd plays with digital optical or co axial output
for some cd and mp 3 plays very well with rca output
my senior friends and relatives who have heard good music in good systems are very happy with this sound quality in fact my house has become second home to my senior friends who are all reliving their nostalgic moments .

iam very happy with this cd player

Thx in advance.

Also advise me if I get on hifimart will I get warranty n all...

The Marantz UD5005/5007 will also be able to play DVD-A, SACD & Blu-Ray Pure Audio Disc so it would be future proof compared to a standalone CDP.

Why do you want to spend so much on a CD player when the rest of the system isn't even truly entry level?

If I was to spend 1.5L+ on a 2.0 system, perhaps then I would consider spending 20-25k on a CD player.

I say get a DAC which accepts optical input and use the cheapest possible source possible (apart from the DAC) which replaces your CD player.

What is wrong in buying an entry level CDP and later upgrade the other components to justify the CDP's quality/ cost. I am sure he will not live with the same speaker/ amp forever.

But I agree that these days standalone DAC makes more sense for many esp. if they dont have a CD collection or intend to build it.

Relatively recent options in computer audio make it possible to have truly awesome audio ...

As of ten or fifteen years ago!

But I wouldn't argue with anyone who wants a "traditional" CD player on their hifi rack: I do too.

I have not heard any really expensive CD players. I used my PC with the hifi most about ten years ago. At that time a sound card from RME, with analogue out, clearly beat my Cyrus CD player.

A simple PC/DAC setup, I believe, can give all that is required. And I mean "simple," since audiophiles got hold of PCs, all kinds of unnecessarily complex stuff is being touted.

For any given system, one can play steps and ladders, and produce a better system, PC/CDP/PC/CDP/PC/etc/etc. That's hifi, I suppose: there are always upgrades!. There is no limit to the amount one can spend on a DAC.
