HiFi System 5.1 - Budget 50,000 INR

one avr
one centre
2 fronts may be bookshelf..may be floorstander
2 surround
1 sub

now
your option
1.getting a full set up denon 1312xp/yamaha 296/onkyo 3400 at more or less 30k.

option 2.
denon 1612 avr
2 bookshelf(as you mentioned you have a small room.no need of floorstanders)
bookshelf model....sonodyne sonus/polk Tsi
1 centre....sonodyne/polk
for now

buy sub and surrounds later.......

this will be a killer package.you wont feel upgrade itch.but if you buy the full package htib..its very normal to feel the upgrade itch.

in kolkata visit south city mall for sonodyne...and gariahat(just nearby of south city mall) for profx for denon and polk both.

within 50k its difficult to get separate speakers and a avr.
thats why i am suggesting to get step by step.

if you have a fancy for floorstanders get them, dont compromise,
within 50k you will get a denon avr and 2 sonodyne proper floorstanders.
within 60k you will get a denon avr and 2 polk Tsi 400 floorstanders.
always bargain for discount.

but remeber avr power should match the floorstanders.I mean should be well enough to feed them.

best of luck

Okay, Im ready to extend the budget.

Im looking for a system, which can output around 1000-1200W total.

What kind of stretch of budget are we looking at ?

And since items are not available in my city, I would like to go and get everything at once..

So, we need to get :
one avr
one centre
2 floorstander
2 surround
1 sub

Is that correct ?

Do not go simply by wattage. Speaker sensitivity is more important. A speaker with 90dB sensitivity is not just a tad better than one with say 88dB - it is astoundly better and consequently much more expensive. Amp wattage/ratings, speaker power handling capacity/ratings, etc. don't mean a thing unless you audition.

But otherwise your assumptions are correct - AVR + 2 fronts, 1 CS, 2 rear, 1 sub.

And if I may add further, unless you are planning a dedicated HT room, there is no need to go with high end systems. The Onkyo HT-S3500 is good enough for your needs (just 2 or 3 movies per month).

Another thing to note is that HTiB is not the best solution for music-heavy needs.

50k budget and going for HTIB is waste!!! if your budget was 25k then I would say HTIBs would be the best bang for buck. But in 50k you need to get an AVR + 5.1 speaker system. Might take a while to find something you like but please listen to as many systems and then decide. Here are some of the good names :

AVR : Marantz, Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha
Speakers : wharfedale, Boston Acoustics, Jamo, Polk Audio, etc...........
Boston Acoustics XS 5.1 comes to my mind, if you get a good price its an excellent speaker system.

I already have a Sony HT, which is more than enough for my TV room.

Actually, Im looking for something heavy duty, which we can use for our events at office, parties, for DJ dance floor music system.

On that case you should invest in a powerful stereo system.

Hmm. Difficult for me to say. And it does depend upon the party hall size, etc. DJ music has to be loud and have more punch. At high loundness (and room with half-drunk people :p), high fidelity may not matter much. Just power. That does not mean high fidelity is completely redundant.

Home systems need to be more hi-fi. And then it depends upon music choice - vocals, classical, soul, jazz, pop, rock, metal?

I suggest that you put up a new thread in the hifi stereo sections stating precise needs.

yes an integrated amp and 2 floorstanders from sonodyne will solve your case..in fact that will be well within 50k..may be 42k.
as you are mentioning you need it for party purpose..so power is important than quality...
and at 50k tag sonodyne can offer you quality and power both.....
much brands are avilable under 50k as well...but sonodyne will be very good.
and indian brand so no service headeach........or parts headeach...
but dont underestimate the brand...its a very good brand.

an integrated amp+2 floorstanders=stereo system..........
