HiMedia OWNERSHIP THREAD

yes exactly :o

aah then you just sending 2 channel audio to ur 5.1 system mate :)

there is no way you can boost that, volume boost will be very little

if you play 5.1 movie in ur himedia but send just 2 channels to ur 5.1 system (in this case you are just sending left and right which does not carry dialogue) so even if you boost ur 5.1 volume a lot it will increase dialogue very little, since center channel carry 90% of the dialogue

hope this helps to understdn ur setup :)

nice to see a nice Himedia community here :D

ok I have one networking problem lets see if anyone can figure out a solution. I have switched on all option from the network settings :D

I am on a USB modem which enables network sharing through a router now if a laptop is connected to the router I can browse contents of PC on my laptop but if I connect the Himedia player sometimes it gets connected and sometimes it doesn't.

If I use direct broadband connection rather than USB no such issues...

I don't wanna use internet just need network sharing somehow with the USB which I can get if I connect a laptop but its not there if I connect it to the Himedia player...

I would suggest you to update the latest firmware fix first and see if this problem persist (but yeah read full instruction before updrading any firmware else you may turn ur player into brick)

to look into ur issue if you are saying it works fine with broadband then its the slow speed of the usb modem which is not able to cope with many connections made by himedia and throwing it off

ohoho ! why didnt i think that way :o ?! many thanks for clearing up that for me :)

one question though....i use my PS3 too that way. but no issues with that. so does it mean the PS3 has some advanced audio converting-decoding features ?

and any remedy to that ? should i use the system in 2.1 mode ? and any other device that could help me enjoy sound through all 5 channels ? dont know of optical out, but my sub doesnt have an optical port :(

EDIT : sorry, thats too many questions at a time :)

well I had the same problem when I bought a new bluray player for my HDTV, the best solution is to get a AVR, for my case I got the best entry level option denon 1312XP its a 5.1 surround AVR + speakers, and I must say if you really want to enjoy that theater like experience then you need to get a AVR

but again you need to think on the price, bcoz I got it for 30K which is quite an investment :)

and for your existing setup I am afraid nothing will help specially if you wanna improve that dialogue...

and yeah this forum did helped me in making up my mind to get a denon 1312XP else I was also like "puzzled" :)

I know its a hefty price specially if you had bought other costly stuffs...there are other cheaper options as well but you have to do a lot of searching

search the forums in here you can get some good suggestion and cheaper options.

but one suggestion from my side, dont go with 15-20k philips, sony, samsung any such home theater options, they are not good at all compared to AVR.

and I intended to share my expierence only you will need to take ur decision based on ur budget and needs :)

was just going through a denon 1312xp vs onkyo 3400 thread. seems if am going to invest in an AVR, i would buy one of these than cheaper ones.

i had plans of buying a set of studio monitors/bookshelf speakers (7-14k) + floorstanders (6.5k) + amplifier (10k). but now it seems am in a serious dilemma as to what to go for now :(

dont worry you are in the same state as I was, take ur time, dont rush, read all pro cons and TAKE TIME to decide

all the very best :)

I am not sure if there is a option in HiMedia but my 3 yr old Pioneer has a option to configure analogue output to down-convert to only Land R. If this option exists, it will resolve the low volumne dialog issue.

thanks ! certainly. for now, some new things have come up which are going to eat up my wallet (sound card upgrade, headphones, etc), so plan postponed for the time-being ;)

I just saw pics of the player and it as only L and R audio ouput. So by default it sould be downconverting to 2 channels.
In my player the settings are under Audio Output>Speakers> 2Channels/5.1 channels because it has 5.1 analog output.

r u referring to himedia having only 2 audio out ? if someone will connect to them the player wont downconvert 5.1 signal to 2 for sure

I think TheSeeker is using those outputs. If it cannot output it downcoverted by changing some settings, then these cannot be effectively used for anything other than 2 channel audio (5.1/7.1).

yes am using the L and R audio-out....but lately am feeling the situation has improved a bit. now i keep the vol. to almost full on the player, and even increase center channel's vol.

would using an amp be a good solution to this ?
