HiMedia OWNERSHIP THREAD

thanks, but it' not exactly the function that i need; on my XT, when a movie is playing, if i press the button "right" on the remote, video jumps 10 seconds forward, if i press "up", it's 30 seconds; you see what i mean?.............

Pressing the right and left buttons will skip as you described but I don't remember by how much seconds. It will also show a timebar and you can skip to desired position.

Hi,
I am planning on buying a 3d projector. Will the hd600b play a 3d movie or will I have to go in for the 900b ???

while connecting HD600b to a PC (win XP) using a usb 3.0/2.0 cable, is it required to boot the player up? or just standby power on mode will do? i tried this and had to boot up for xp to detect the internal drive in it. but after a while i noticed that the player had shut itself down to standby mode (power icon on the faceplate is red) and i could still access the internal drive.

i was thinking that the player need not boot up. all the hard drive requires is power which can be bypassed to it in standby mode. can someone throw some light on this pls?

You need to boot up your player for the HDD to be visible in Windows.

Those who want to install Xtreamer Sidewinder2 Firmware 3.0.7 can download it from here. 1073dd-ka8us - ????????? - Google Project Hosting

It worked on my hd600b. You will need to do a force upgrade.

The FW has some bugs but it won't affect the playback. On booting there is a welcome music which you can turn off under settings. The font size of interface is very small. You will need to watch the TVat close distance for reading. Status of all devices connected are shown in the home UI. Wifi is not recognised. The VFD just shows 'BOOT'. Subtitles are turned off by default. You can turn it on and it is remembered for that particular movie. Media files are added to the database automatically. The FW comes with a jukebox where it can download the movie info directly without using PC as in YAMJ. The music player looks better with album art which is absent in himedia. Colored buttons, timer, VFD, Movie,Music, Picture, Bookmark etc. buttons are not working. All the playback buttons, Volume control, Home, menu, return, subtitle buttons worked correctly. The up button will skip the movie by 3 minutes and right button by 30 sec. Slider seek is not working. You can set the audio out to be 5.1 or multichannel. With aac codecs, the multi channel out worked correctly, but ac3 and dts were outputting only two channel. With 5.1/7.1, ac3 and dts worked correctly but for aac it was outputting two channel only.

Apart from some small bugs, the firmware seem to be very good. Just give it a try.

Hi Guys,
My himedia 600b version is on 1.0.4.21
When i go to main menu , where its says Himedia Online ,after press ok , all i see is everything in Chinese...Any way to convert in English?

Thanks Guys :)

Do a force upgrade of your firmware 1.0.4.21
you will get to see the INITIAL SETUP
there the first option will ask you about the language of your preference
set it to ENGLISH
:) hope this will help :)

for force upgrade
get a small refill of your pen or something which can go inside the small RESET hole NEAR the power jack/ or HDMI socket behind the HiMedia device

switch off your device
remove the Internel HDD or any device connected/attached to it
take a usb and put the install.img in the root of your usb stick
plug the usb stick in to the device
press and hold the FIRMWARE UPGRADE / RESET button behind device and keep that way.
Turn on the the device simultaneously.
Do not release the reset button until you see the FIRMWARE UPGRADE SCREEN on the tv.
once you see it .. you can release the button behind. and wait till the device to reboot :)

thats all>>

@ All,

This is turning out to be a very insightful thread for me. To the OP for starting it, and to all the contributers of info, grazie :).

I was initially interested in the 600A, but am seriously thinking about the 600C. It seems to fit my requirements perfectly, and am just biding my time ;).

Cheers

Guys whats up .. no news ..:) did u ppl try with other firmwares from playOnHD2 or egreat ?? :P

I tried the measy X6 firmware and booted into the first time settings screen. But the remote control was not getting recognised. So reverted back to the Himedia FW. However I used the Home icons of Measy X6 in the Himedia FW for a change. I read in another forum that we can configure the remote control by editing a fle. Probably I will check it once I'm back home. Right now I am thinking of upgrading to an HTPC based on AMD fusion. If that happens, I will place the player for sale at an attractive price.:licklips:

How much of the absence of a fan in 600B a problem? The 600C looks better from a longevity perspective due to the fan with the wifi a nice add-on, but the absence of USB 3.0 is a problem.

Unless, someone tells me that even at USB 2.0 and running a full BD rip, there are no issues?

Can the existing users of 600B and C comment?

The absence of fan in HD600b is not a problem if you are not using it for prolonged hours. As I mentioned earlier, the HDD gets warm to an extend but the body of the player helps to dissipate it. If heat is really a problem to you, then the HDD can always be placed outside using the bundled SATA cable. The fanless design makes it super silent.

Absence of USB 3.0 in 600c should not be a problem as this port is for connecting to your pc for data transfer only. You can't connect a usb 3.0 HDD to this port. This is also the case with other brands using 1185 chipset.

FYI - I'm no more a Himedia owner as I sold it to another member.

There seems to be a supply problem of HiMedia. I enquired about the 600c and was told that he (Detna) has no visibility when he will get the stock, so he has stopped even pre-orders. I believe, the issue is the same for the 900 series. Are there other avenues of purchase?
