I am looking to buy a 32 inch LED TV in this week itself. The budget is around 40-45000/- I have visited the showrooms, but I couldn't find all the models listed in the websites. According to the websites, I have shortlisted two LED models based on specifications :-

KDL-32EX520 : EX520 Series : BRAVIA LCD TV : Sony India

An elegant blend of practicality and performance - UA32D5000PRMXL - LED TV - Television | SAMSUNG

If any one of these are good, I will order the dealer to bring them.

Are there any better choices? Please guide me.

Sony EX520, Samsung D5500, LG LV5500 in order of my preference.

I did a demo yesterday at Croma. Not all models were available in 32". Avoid Samsung D550 LCD. Ditto for Samsung D5000 edge-LED.

The Sony looked the safest bet.

Edit: Above details based only on picture demo. I am not much of a fan of "frill" features like USB, WiFi.

Good that women also started taking interest in LCDs/LEDs :) (assuming by name :p).At 40-45K, I will say the best bet is a 42in Full HD LCD.To be specific - you can go for the LG LD460 on ezoneonline going at 41-42k (though available at many other dealers). It's a 2010 model ,at par with the LG's 2011 ones. Also, there are a couple of 2010 model Samsungs too.

And let's accept the reality - 42in HD plasma is passe , and 42in LED is above ur range (and 32in LED has no exceptional pic quality as it's edge lit). So, 42in LCD fits u.

And yes, leave the SONY fad. It's time to move on.

My budget is around 40000. Please suggest around that price only.

Hi Soumya,
LED lit display production technology is still evolving and costs more. Do audition Plasma TV as well. The current plasmas tchonology seems overcome the problems of the past and comparitively cheaper. Also plasma display has got several advantage over LED lit. Check out panasonic and samsung plasmas.

If your budget is 40k I would rather recommend a 42 inch plasma either HD ready or Full HD. However as isisira has pointed out the most popular choice seems to be a LCD.

Samsung D5000 series is a very good LED, I have UA40D5000 model. The Picture Quality is really good. It can play all the movie formats with subtitles thru its USB, so you don't have to separate media player. The HD Quality is really awesome.
Sony is also a Good TV, but I didn't really like EX520, EX720 is really good but it will not be in your budget.

I am in a transferable job, so bigger is not better for me. Let me put it this way, what will be the best use of Rs. 40000 to buy a LCD/LED TV? Or should I lower my budget and get only a normal 32 inch LCD.

You can easily get a 32" LED-lcd if bought from the grey market,in some places you may even get a 40D5000 for 40k.

Now the only real benefit you can get from edge LED are lower power consumption and slimmer profile

I saw some models today. Couldn't find much of a difference between Samsung D550/d580 and D5000. Now I am really confused. D5000 has better specs but is it worth to give 8000 extra. D550 is available for 32k here. Or should I go for Sony EX520 though I couldn't find any difference between these also except the thinner profile.

D580 has better sound ,the D5000 and EX520 have LED light source hence they are thinner and have lower power consumption.
So if power consumption is important (if you have frequent power cuts and have a inverter/UPS)get the LED-LCD

I am thinking of getting the D550? What say? How can I make sure it has the SPVA panel? Is this the panel I should get?

Only way to know for sure its a SPVA panel is by going to the service menu by pressing "Info, menu, mute, power" quickly during standby.

Or check the sticker that contains serial number along with the letters SQXX or H3XX(where X is a number) at the back usually located close to the left or right.

Is D550 a good choice? What do you think of Sony CX 420 and LG 32LK450? SPVA panel would start with SQXX? Is is the panel to get?

The SPVA panel for the most part starts with SQXX but since samsung changes the code once in a few years its best to check them in the service menu and look for the codes mentioned in that post http://www.hifivision.com/televisio...eed-samsung-spva-sq01-panel-2.html#post248757

Either get the D550/580 in showroom or get the Sony 32CX520 via grey market which costs around 26k.
