Unleash, Yes we did have a great day and not just the evening! One full day of great music, and then trying out some variations to see how the sound changed.
To all who asked how the speakers sounded,
I am not the best person to give you an objective analysis of it. I have limited exposure to high end speakers. But I can safely say that these are one of the best that I have heard.
TBH, most of the speakers I could quote in comparison wouldnt be fair comparison. They are not in this league.
As for my own person impressions of the sound,
These Witches fill the hall and even the adjacent courtyard (mind you that is a whole lot of real estate to fill)with beautiful, 'Live' music. It has the enveloping effect. And yet its not about high volume. Moreover even if you play music through Suri's set up at high volume, it doesnt blast you in the face. It remains as sweet, pleasant, musical and composed as it was at lower volume levels.
The Imaging was excellent. I noticed this especially with good recordings like "Temptation" from Girl in The Other Room by Diana Krall. Standing in the sweet spot( Yes, you read me right, STANDING!), there was not hint of sound coming from two points/speakers, rather it felt like Diana Krall was singing about 5 feet in front of me in the centre. However, this was not felt that much when we changed the source from Cdp to my laptop.
There is very good instrument separation and that so called airiness to the sound. The speakers are bass light without the subwoofer. Coming to the subwoofer, this TL sub has got the bass just right for music. You just dont notice it unless you turn it off. It just gives the right weight to all the instruments and nothing more. It seems TL subs are the way to go!
However as with systems with better resolutions, give it a bad recording and it will shout from the roof tops that this one is a bad recording. Good for some, bad for others.
The CD player as a source remains the undisputed king in our little shoot out. The digital source is good, but you would need a very good DAC. The under 300$ Keces did a good job but not as good as the CD6002. Hence while a PC+laptop may offer unparallel flexibilty, it is not the cheapest and most easiest way to a good source( this is coming from someone who has been playing all his music from his PC for the last so many years).
