If you are sure about what you want, why dont you write or call the manufaturers - I think only LG and Sony have a 84" sets, at this price point they would be happy to ship one to you or their dealers on order.

Alternatively check some online sites - I think Junglee has a seller, but the prices are high.

I bought a HD lcd way back in 2005 where was the content here in india, so did that stop me or the thousands who bought a lcd/plasma back then.

Mate, when did you finally start to get utility out of the TV, It is not a matter of purchasing power but actual usage of the product.....HD channels got launched 2/3 years back here ...regular content is still in SD and still looks and sounds pathetic on almost all HDTVs .... so the only option remaining was Blu Rays...how much of the population was buying Blu rays in 2005 ...

i guess I am happy that i stuck to CRT till 2009 and then bought a 50" Plasma and now a 65" Plasma in 2013....content is now more freely and widely available and i get to enjoy HD and Full HD on the product that I have purchased.

It make absolutely no sense to invest in UHD when such limited content is available abroad...not even top movies forget anything else....dont even have sense of when local content will be available ....

Rather then investing money in a premature product one should rather wait...patience does pay..

I agree that eventually its an individuals choice..

Well for gaming it was useful way back then.
And online(illegal) content which the vast majority of the people in india watch was also available well before HD content was available legally in india.

And for those who wanted a really big size tv and yet have limited viewing distance available, for them 4k is a welcome tech.
Its also useful for people who see photos taken on a screen .

If i had waited that long for switching to HD i would also have been stuck with a smaller size CRT tv.

Hmm wow you are trying to buy their high end TV that not many people want & still they won't reply to ur mails? Fantastic example of the kind of service one can expect from LG. I pray to god that you don't have to deal with them about some warranty issues.

Disclaimer :- I own multiple LG products & can't really complain about their service in Mumbai. But service in my home town is spotty at best. Hence my word of caution to the OP. Sony on the other hand seems to stand by their products incase of some warranty issues.

I had once asked LG for a dealer location in Powai, Mumbai and they gave me a dealer who had closed shop two years back! Their on line customer care is pathetic but I found the local service centre pretty good.

Guys wait for minimum 5 years ,the prices will be slashed down for 4K TV... may be at that time the technology will go to 16k resolution .:)....

Here are thoughts about UHD content availability, today, solving it, and a way to compare the same decorative video example, side-by-side, at all resolutions.

January 1, 2014

UHD content shortage is a problem: little broadcast, little downloadable content, few UHD hardware player mechanisms to choose from.

Here are ideas for temporary solutions, awaiting more players for UHD. In February, '14 Apple releases the new MacPro, UHD capable computers. The Apple platform could be a versatile axis for UHD content distribution. The specs for the MacPro soon available state that it is powerful enough to drive FOUR UHD TVs simultaneously. Using a Mac democratizes UHD content distribution.

For testing purposes here are ten UHD art clips, documentary art clips, downloadable, free from the vimeo file sharing website, useful as sample content to test various UHD sets coming out at CES '14 next week.

Of interest, you could compare 720p, 1080p, 2K 2560X1440p, UHD 3840x2160p versions, different versions of the same videos, since all the resolution versions of the UHD videos listed below, could be downloaded, separately, and played from a new MacPro desktop, simultaneously, featuring multiple brands of UHD sets being supplied by just one MacPro. Actually, it's brilliant. My company did all the UHD content for Almo A/V at Infocomm'13 in June. Good luck trying comparison downloads as a sales strategy for UHD now that prices are coming down. And full UHD display quality surely looks better than upscaled HD signals.

Let me know if these downloadable UHD comparison clips are helpful

LG 55in 4K UHD television has been introduced in kerala market. I had gone for a demo yesterday. The price after discount comes to around inr 292000/-.The salesperson connected a USB drive and played some film clips. I wasn't impressed with what I saw. Blacks were greyish and there were some artifacts on the screen. But when they demoed the 4k clippings it was great. Now I am having second thoughts about my plans for the purchase of this television at this price.

UHD? may be this is not the right time to buy UHD TV's.. In India we have few HD channels.. imagine how long it will take to broadcast good number of UHD channels?
It will take min 5 years to get major UHD channels.. till that time UHD TV's will be more cheaper with better PQ and technology..

If you take UHD TV then all HD channels will look like SD channels when you compare UHD with FHD.

My suggestion is don't waste your hard earned money better stick to Full HD TV.. its good for another 5 years.
This is my personal take on UHD TV's.. choice is yours :)

We are discussing about the future technology whether to adopt or not.
The fun part is that there are already some resale classifieds for used 4k tvs in india.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
