Listening Impression - Shanti's System

Hey...how did the Allnic home demo go??? I heard them some time back and it was one of the best that I've heard (though I haven't really heard a lot of true hi-end).

They are insanely priced but 250K INR seems a fair price while still remaining waaaaaay out of my reach...

I had sent them for a demo to ND.
The person did not like the Allnic Pre.
He is to get a pre from the same make as his power - Luxman - I think...

Yes, this pre is listed @ Rs. 650/- K [Vat & Tax extra]
Was ready to sell it @ Rs. 265/- K [delivered]
230V - 1st owner - direct import from S. Korea.
Used less than 6 months.
Was changed / replaced for a Passive from Music First Audio - Top Line - Ref Model.
Therefore this pre is for sale...

:rolleyes:

Well I shall try;

I will start with the assumption that we like art & that we have some art works in our house; This is a pretext we need to start with.....
So, every day we get up & see / look / admire the art that we have on our walls.
This is 'ours' & so we see it - hopefully like it [relate this to out own audio set up @ our house]

Then we do go to art exhibitions / shows / galleries etc. Some times - at least I do.
Here we see art that does not belong to us - yet, some of it we like, some we do not, some is good to see & some is absurd.
This I relate to as an audio show room - dealer place.
Commercial - for sale - i.e.

Then there are 'museums'
These are places we do visit - some times.
Here we see art works by Raza / Sabawalla / Anjolie Ela Menon / Hussain / Souza etc.
These we cannot [at least I cannot buy] buy, but I still do try and go [visit] so that I can see. Try to appreciate - widen my horizon etc.
This I relate to 'esoteric' audio systems.
We can listen & try to understand & appreciate.
We may never own this - but the pleasure of listening can always be had.

Thereafter, I come home & see the art on my walls & appreciate it for what it is - I cannot buy any of the esoteric art works, but that does not mean that I should not experience it......

This is all I want to put across.

Live in a 1BHK Flat, but do visit a palace / mansion etc.
Appreciate what you see.
Take it in your senses.
Learn from it.
Aspire for it - some day - if God wills it - may come your way.
If it does not, you still have your 1BHK Flat to revert to - I know I do [I live in a 400 sq. ft. house - just to let you know] !!!

So as far as possible, 'experience' what ever comes your way;
That is the only way to 'grow' in life.
See / Listen / Touch etc. what ever you can - ownership is not important - experience the good things - that way you will grow an an individual...

First thing first - Kudos to such a great set up!

I am just getting to spend some time with this forum but the more and more time I spend I am in for more warm home welcome!

When I started to reading the thread, I wanted to contact you to have an opportunity to come and listen to your set up when I am in Mumbai.. but reading further, it feels like there is more to learn / share beyond HiFi...
I will stay in touch and in few months time when I am in town, I would contact you with more concrete proposal for a meetup!
Hope I get the opportunity!

24 lakhs for a pair of bookshelves.. quite a passion you got there (and wallet!)

Sir,
You stay in ND / Gurgaon [I think]
1 of my 'older' speakers - Resurrection - just got installed there - 'Malvai'
Do make that trip - go and listen. Maybe you like what you listen to - maybe you do not - but at least you will get some idea of what I like & how I like to listen to music - so an impression / idea of what the Tidal Amea Diacera can do ? The price for a B/S is crazy - I would call it stupid - but what can be done - the Tweeters alone are listed @ 4.5/-K Euro a piece & no one else in the world uses a 30MM T & P Accuton Diamond Tweeter - same reason - cost; Hance the 'mad' price for this B/S Speaker....

;)

The price may be crazy but everyone has a passion. It's cars for some people, travelling for others, speakers for you. I know if I had the money and had a passion for something and it needed money I would definitely go all the way. :licklips:

Excellent Attitude;
I appreciate your thoughts.
All the Best !

There are far worse ways of enjoying wealth!

And worse still ...is not to enjoy it at all. I used to work (in UK) for a multi-millionaire who lived like a pauper. Still: his money his choice, I suppose. Pity he wasn't interested in hifi, though :lol:

Why ?! Why ?!
I was trying to hold on to that audition for the Vivid Audio V1.5 as I might end up buying them.. Now reading such statements and Bhagwanji's system / comments inspire me to not over contemplate!

Let me book that audition:yahoo:

Some small changes made;
dCS is OUT
DAD - AX-24 in IN [Bertram Power Cord]
Allnic Pre in IN [Echole Power Cord]
Reference Labs - XLR Cable - DAC to PRE

Pictures, I shall post soon. Once the set up starts & I listen.
Then the 'tune' process will begin - positioning & sub settings etc.

Still on Canasya?

Yes, the CC is still there;
If & when I find a replacement, I shall change them - as of now, they stay;;;

interested to learn "why dcS is out"

did see your spks on sale .. :)

Yes, I needed the funds - so I sold the dCS.
The DAD AX-24 is installed - will know how it plays - once I get the Allnic Pre & get the system on the road....

Yes, my TAD is on sale - Audiogon :-
Tidal Audio Amea Diacera - Signature Black 30mm T & P Diamond & Black Woofer | Monitors | AudiogoN - The High-end Audio Community
This is the Link;
aah..the fun part ;)
congrats, all the best (for the TAD) and enjoy
It may sound like fun - but can get really troublesome, if you are not able to get it right.
I will install the set up for the TAD as of now - I will work on the subs @ later date. Too much to do otherwise.

Have not had music for 25+ days - so am missing it - a lot actually...

Sir,
The dCS Scarlatti is THE BEST DIGITAL FRONT END in the world that I have ever heard - auditioned. Nothing is better to my ears.
That being stated, I find it to be 'too expensive' !
It is a super front end for someone that has a super room [big] & super gear [speaker & amplifier] to use the dCS Scarlatti with.

In my case, both were not present, so the dCS was an 'overkill' [choice of better words] therefore I sold it. Substantial Discount was offered - 65 % on International Suggested Retail Price & I gave all Cables with the sale. 13944 / BNC to BNC / SPDIF to SPDIF / Power Cords etc.

I will 100 % miss the dCS Scarlatti - it was a super product & served me well.

Couple of very interesting things that you have said. I for one am shocked at 2 things - A) You sold the dcs & B) A person of your position found it too expensive & needed the funds :eek:

Wish you all the best with your sale & that you get back to enjoying the music ASAP :)

Thanks for finally seeing the light @ the end of the tunnel w r t your current system being a HUGE HUGE HUGE Overkill for the room(hall of your house)
No dis respect meant here to you pls!

BTW, don't you think your office deserves a better set-up what with the space available to you there than @ home???? Next upgrade then @ the office too???? (Pulling your leg in good faith)
