LM3886 Class AB Amplifier

I prefer LM3886 over TPA3118, maybe a TPA3255 comes in the same league, I feel class D don't have a role in homes where the power requirement is under 200+200 W ( in the majority of homes ) . And there are really good class AB amps which are not expensive and they give really good performance, maybe where high efficiency is needed, Class D have a role. There are purifis and hypexes which may produce four or five zeros after the dot in THD measurement, but will they touch your heart? i don't know .
My personal preference is a low-wattage Class A with high-sensitivity speakers.

BTW I give more importance to objective measurements than what I can hear or not hear and absolutely zilch to esoteric boutique parts / system.
We are same👍
The joy of DIY chipamp with specs reaching the hifi territory is immense
After seeing the technical performance of LM3886 and TDA7294 I made several kits many years back. I even bought and hand soldered LinuxGuru's designs. Elektor Electronics was my inspiration,. Their chief designer, T Giesberts, was producing newer higher powered designs left and right, some had immeasurable distortion specs like 0.001% distortion, truly high end territory.

Kannan, if you are interested in high power LM3886 then you may go the bridge parallel way, its a very compact design and you can easily get 200W to 300W from 4 or 6 chips in BPA. Roland did that several years back. If you want class A no need for discrete, there are LM3886 designs with class-A biasing, it really does not matter how we get class-a operation as long as its low distortion and flat frequency response.
