Hi All,

Tentatively, looking for a Bookshelf speaker's which will be paired with Denon AVR in a 5.2.2 layout..

- The idea is to use one speaker across all locations (Fronts, center, surrounds & front heights)..Timbre matched & uniform sound stage across all locations..
- Have dual subs doing the bass duty, so speakers doing deep bass in not a requirement..
- compact in dimensions..Specifically shallow in depth, that can be mounted on wall..
- Ability to tilt & turn will be an advantage..
- Inexpensive ones, < = 12K/pair..
- Maximum budget of 50K..

Very strict requirements. Are you doing away with current speakers? Why?

In that budget, OWM3 from polk will fit all your requirements.

Mostly, will pass it on to my brother.. Not that am dissatisfied with Klipsch, but purely space constraints.. The BS & Center occupy space in my small living room, which i overlooked when i got them..

Sure.. Will check them.. How much do they cost ?

14k perpair, after discount 12.6k

Boston Acoustics A25/A225C maybe?
Don't know the price, but Energy Connoisseur CB10/CB5 might fit your requirement. I remember someone praising them on the speakers below 20k thread.
Maybe even the OEM SE 420 from hifimart.

You have twin Taga SW 10 subwoofers, why not go for 5.0 package from Taga or Jamo 426 etc. Ask for same bookshelf speakers for fronts in lieu of Floor standers if space constraints bother you. Don't compromise on center speaker IMHO, It'll make or break your movie viewing experience manifold .

BA26 /25, 225c is a good option. I'm not sure about the current availablity of Three way LCR type universal speakers (can be used for front center or Surrounds) from Onkyo which will satisfy your requirements precisely. Check with local onkyo dealers if possible. Polk Has one smaller 5.0 package as well, which should gel well with your Denon AVR check that as well.

Polk OWM 3 will fulfill your need i.e. placement, Size, tilt etc and are within your budget or just take a look of Def Tech GEM XL you may like. Expensive but may be worth for cost.

One nutty idea is to get 5 center channel speakers and use them with the subs. This will ensure timbre match and wont be a space hogger.Do look at Dali pico's that can be mounted on walls and comes with brackets.

Slightly over my budget.. But the depth of BA A25 is 22.5cm... Need to evaluate lil..

CB5 might fit, but need to check aval and pricing..

Maybe even the OEM SE 420 from hifimart.

This was one of my choices, but have requested hifimart to provide pictures of the rear side.. Need to check if it has key hole for mounting & threads for using brackets..

The depth of the speaker is juz 15 cm.. This is really good..

Do you mean inmovie 5.0 speaker package (or) FS speaker package from Taga?

Don't compromise on center speaker IMHO, It'll make or break your movie viewing experience manifold.

Nope.. In an other thread, FM Manoj.p had mentioned, most center channel (Horizontal MTM) speaker suffer from lobing issue.. So it is best to use a 3-way center channel (or) a 2- way regular BS speaker which doesn't suffer from this issue..

BA26 /25, 225c is a good option.

Will dig more on the specs.. BA A23 might juz fit.

Onkyo...Might skip this..

Sure.. This speaker looks too shallow, don't know how much of bass it can reproduce..

It would be good, if someone who has used Polk OWM3 could confirm the Freq Resp that was detected after Audyssey calibration?

or just take a look of Def Tech GEM XL you may like. Expensive but may be worth for cost.

This looks cool.. Will check the pricing & aval..

Actually a good idea..I too would prefer the same.. Initially thought abt it..But vertical position seems to be best position for center channel speaker.. Which means i need to switch to Acoustic Transparent screen for my PJ screen..

Do look at Dali pico's that can be mounted on walls and comes with brackets.

This looks cool too.. 84db efficient, think least efficient..But Dali price

You have everything on the OEM S420 here
GROUP BUY - Oem mini bookshelf speaker

Looks like the speakers don't have key hole mounting slots (or) mounting threads at the rear of the speaker.. I guess, they are at the bottom..They also need custom brackets..

Mounting threads at the back would have been really nice, so the speaker can be tilted downwards when in front height position..

One of the speakers that i came across - Heco Music Style Rear 200 F speakers - Music Style Rear 200 F | Deutsch | Heco

Dimensions (WxHxD)184 x 300 x 114 mm

Looks very nice, but not sure if these are aval in India & their pricing.. Only down side would be inability to tilt vertically if used as front heights..

Update : After completing a DIY Acoustic Transparent screen, there was change in speaker plan..

For fronts : Traded my Klipsch RP series speakers for Sonodyne Avant LCR 250 satellites (with my brother) x 3 pieces for few reasons..

- Left, Center, right speaker tweeter approx matched to ear height..
- Uniform sound-stage in the front..
- Was able to position center channel speaker behind screen (vertically positioned)..
- Ability to tilt (Horizontal) the Left & right speaker towards listening position using custom brackets (speakers have key hole at top & bottom)..

For heights : Got Taga Harmony Platinum series inceiling speakers, with custom made enclosure for heights.. (yet to be mounted on ceiling)

For surrounds : Wanted to get an other pair of Avant LCR250, to have atleast 5 identical speakers.. So e-mailed Sonodyne, but unfortunately they have discontinued the model..
- Surround speakers are the one's pending.. Hope to close it soon..

Wow that looks fantastic. What are the alternatives for the rear surround?

Thanks.. Polk OWM 5 & Taga Harmony Platinum LCR 60.. But, leaning towards Taga..

Oh okay. I have been using OWM3 for a couple of months now and find them really good. I think OWM5 should not be too different. Apart from the sound quality, I just love the way they hang flush with the wall. A good WAF:ohyeah:

Did few more things to organize the living room with AV equipment..

Was using a pair of portable TV stand to hold the Klipsch BS until sometime back.. Since i changed the speakers, though to reuse the stands in a better way..

Rs 450/- per piece..

Removed the metal support and replaced with 12mm thick plywood to support PC cabinet dimensions..

Now the PC is wall mounted slightly above one of the subwoofer..

In similar fashion, made an other 12mm plywood to support AVR dimension, mounted slightly above an other sub..

Also made speaker brackets from scrap iron and painted them.. This gives the ability to tilt the front speaker (wall mounted) to listening position..

Front speakers..

Completed a DIY Surround mount..

My room is such that, I can't place surround speakers exactly to the sides of my listening position..But, slightly infront of where it should be.. So if I mount the surround speaker on the wall, I would be completely missing the information, as my listening position would be off -axis to the speaker..

So thought of a DIY Surround mount , where the surround speaker can be tilted towards listening position..

Made of 18 mm plywood with door keel to provide the tilt towards listening position..

Almost the bed speakers are at ear height and tilted towards listening position..

Many thanks to FM @sdurani and @Manoj.p for their enlightening posts..
