My cousin is looking to upgrade his current 50" Samsung Plasma TV to an LED TV since the old one has started displaying vertical lines on the corners.

What he wants from the TV is just a very good panel with good upscaling capabilities. He doesn't need too many smart features since he already has a Firestick and a Chromecast for media consumption. His parents watch a lot of regional content which is not broadcast in HD so the SD feed should look decent.

The sets we've shortlisted are:

1. Samsung MU6470 - quoted 1.79 lakhs

2. Sony 65X9000E - quoted 1.99 lakhs

3. Panasonic 65DX700D - quoted 1.89 lakhs

4. LG 65UJ632T - quoted 1.75 lakhs

What do you guys suggest? What would be the best pick at this price? Are there any other models we should be looking at?

These are all 4K models.. I am not sure how the SD content will appear on them.. It is just too much upscaling .. For best Image quality, I would go with either Samsung or Sony .. LG And Pana are probably in the same ballpark.

Another factor to consider could be the warranties.. get one which offers a decent 3 yr or more warranty package, within this budget..

If the source is less than HD, you can also consider a HD projector for a large screen experience.. May be 100 inch 4:3 projector..

Sony x900e is quite a good TV. When I bought it, the sticker price was 2.85 lakhs. I got it for 2.5 lakhs or so. So, they are selling it at 2 now. Hmmm :)

It's quite a large room with around 15-18 feet distance to the TV. Projector has been ruled out since it will be used by his parents most of the time and they don't want a projector.

TV is pretty great. 4K HDR looks gorgeous on it. Even SD TV is upscaled to a give a satisfactory picture without lots of artifacts.

The smart features are a little slow to respond but work well overall. If your budget is close to 2L then this TV is well worth the money.

@Chaos, i also had an impression that being 65 inch, we won't be able to watch SD channels on it because of grainy pics, artifacts but to my surprise it upscales SD content also such a great extent that u SD channels also look fairly good on it.
hd, full hd and 4k bliss to watch with increasing crispness.
