On a recent visit to Bombay I had the privilege of visiting and auditioning Prem's system.

The Rethm speakers, the custom Lyrita amp and the EMT turntable were an outstanding combo. The music that he played was equally good-some of the newer albums of Neil Diamond, Norah Jones( a special pressing),a nd a few other tracks.

'No entry' ... scuttled my plans during the last visit. :mad:
Hopefully, no 'dhoka' would happen, if that opportunity comes in during my future jaunts to the city. :p

Hey George, it was a pleasure having you over. And Avidyarthy, in future there will only be Mauka, no Dhoka.

Prem

Could you tell me which were the two Neil Diamond albums? Great stuff, have to figure out how I can get the CDs across.

I'm renewing the invite to spend some time with me on your next trip to Bangalore to let me reciprocate, as well as have you meet some our local audio buffs.
George

Heard a lot of Prem's system from Santhosh and now you George. Will need to visit him once, to hear his famous Nickel transformers!

Had visited prem's place after the cinebels bandra meet... Great guy & an amazing exp for me who hadnt heard a decent turntable uptil then... Although this was some time ago & I have been informed by the other guys that he has changed his system since then... Still was a great pleasure to meet him...

Sir,
If you were in town, you should have pm'ed or called me - a visit to my house would have been nice too, just to catch up;
I have simple 'watered' down set up but it would be nice just to catch up with a few Bangalore boys;
Do ping me - if you are to get into town - we shall meet !

Hi George

Thanks for the invite. The 2 albums were Headed for Future and Home before Dark

I had also visited Prem with Rajadeep Santy and Denom. His kit is way out of this world. You feel as if you are at a live performance. You could listen for hours with no ear fatigue at all!

Bhagwan

My apologies- I was on a very intensive week long consulting assignment, it was impossible to get out easily, the only time I had was on the day I reached, and I used that opportunity to go over to Prem's place.
Will definitely take you up on your invite next time I am there.

Cheers

George thanks for starting this discussion. Prem was kind enough to host me and the wife about two weeks ago as well. I was going back and forth on what to write. His setup is that good and some parts so far beyond comprehension, I couldn't figure out what and how to write.

The setup is as minimal as it can get:
EMT TT > Volume Control > Lyrita Power > Rethm Saadhana. Done.
(not to mention his top flight cables and power conditioning)

We listened to some Bollywood vinyls before switching to some English instrumental piano and ended with some sublime Dire Straits. According to Prem the amp is still in burn in so the sound stage was a little unsteady at times but still this was far ahead of anything else I had heard. The amp handled "Telegraph Road" with finesse. I've also been a huge fan of the Rethm's and it was great to finally hear these speakers paired with the custom made Lyrita amp. This so far was the part which I could comprehend.

The "next level" stuff was the room treatments Prem showed us. IF I hadn't seen and heard it for myself I swear I would have laughed it off. Prem is still implementing them so he only showed me a preview but what an experience! To take the already amazing setup and bring out something more is as jaw dropping as it can get. I will have to leave it to Prem to describe them because I just wouldn't be able to do this properly.

We spent about an hour and a half with Prem and the time just flew by. Thanks again Prem for a great experience with great Indian hifi!!

Hi Nikhil

It was a pleasure having you and your wife over. I just showed you what the ASI resonators could do to a room. They work on the principle of normalising the air density in the room. Incidentally they are a patented product. When used in a car inside the bonnet, it apparently improves fuel efficiency.

Nikhil, I do not use any power conditioning. Just a dedicated power line for the audio.

Prem, my ears are "salivating" (I couldn't find a better word here). I will take the trouble of inviting myself.:licklips:

My co-brother is also in the Marathi film industry in a small way. He comes to Mumbai often. I will tag myself along.
