my stupid doubt about media player

now a days all tv,dvd&bluray player & reciver have usb port.
external hard disk also have usb port & usb cord.
just connect hard disk via usb port,its play well.then y should i buy a media player?
any other advandage?

now a days all highend bluray player,tv & av recivers are upcovert dvd videos or analog videos 2 1080p quality.
my qustion is,its upconvert dvd,bluray disks only or its upconvert hard disk files also?
plz quide me...
i can plan 2 get media player.but i have lot of confusiion.
media players unable 2 play HD audio.its play HD audio only in paper.
any media player(wd,segagate,xtreamer & buffelo) unable 2 play HD audio.
but ac ryan playon HD 73100 play HD audio only in paper.
see that specification.its shows play HD audio & its have realtec chipset.
my brother got playonhd.but its not play FULL hd audio.
ac ryan support team says,its support HD audio,after firmware upgrade.but still no HD audio support.
in my experience,medeia players unable 2 play HDaudio till now.

upconversion happens also when the playback is from file instead of DVD.

ASUS HDP R2 plays HD Audio.

If you have a blu ray player that plays files from your collection in HDD, there is no need for a media player.

TVs with USB usually do not play MKVs infact most of them would not play HD Divx as well. Coming to media players, xtremer pro, DUNE D1, ASUS O!play HD2, AC Ryan FLUX all play HD audio ......

2.My friend will bring it from US , will it make any difference in terms of Voltage 220 Vs 110.Can we use the product/player bought from US here in india.
3.I need player which BEST PQ and SQ , Don't prefer player with in Built hard disk as i would be connecting my 2 TB seagate go flex ( Does they support 2 TB drives).
4.Is it really worth to BUY it from US , how much is the price difference .

I know these are lots of question but i guess there are lots of experienced users here who can share there experience.

There are separate threads for each one. Each one has its own cult. Go through them and decide for yourself.

I personally have Xtreamer Pro and I found it to be the best as it can play all the formats incl BD ISOs, pass on HD audio and two external SATA HDDs of 2TB each can be connected.

Yes the voltage difference would be there so you would need a converter. It may ultimately cost you more than in India unless you plan to buy more items from US.

Don't worry about voltage. These devices run on DC. Adapter that comes with these players works with 110 - 240 V AC. So it will work in India as well.

voltage is not an issue buddy as the adapters that come with these units run from 110-240 volts..


also if you can wait as your friend is getting from US.. wait for few days and get an xtreamer ultra or the prodigy.... and then you can probably post reviews for the same that will be helpful for the forum members as well..

both of them looks very good as far as the specs goes...

I wil add ::: Get it from US there is a hell lot of a difference ...... for example Ultra is launching with an expected price tag of 200 EURO (source Engaget) which is like 12400 currently. Dont even expect even in dreams, this to be launched at that price in India ..
