This is a great option. Or you can have a look at S10 model also. Both have the same panel and S10 is more VFM IMO. Can be had for 50-55k.

dealer quote me 65 k for g10 and 59 for s10.why g10 is more expensive.is it worth paying more for 600hz sub field drive over 550

Been using the G10 for a few months. My usage is 80% HD (through XMP) and 20% SD (Tata Sky). Its a very good performer and I'm very satisfied. For me it was the best VFM as I paid 56k (Diwali scheme :p). Check the availability before you put your money down. I had to wait quite a while for delivery.

That said, I found the S10 somewhat better with SD (not an A-B test). Can't really explain why though :(.

@ BLASTO - G10 has a newer panel than the S10 IIRC.

Ok... I have pretty much the same requirements.

I thought 720p was good for PS3 and SD stuff and some occasional blu ray, especially when the the screen size is 42".

How does the extra 15K or so spent on 1080p justify it price difference over 720p ?

I wouldn't mind buying a 1080p TV but I wanna know what value 1080p adds over 720p specifically for above requirements of 50% PS3, 40% SD and 10% BR and at 42" size.

If you are really keen on a plasma, wait for the G20 which will be launched very soon. G10's SD performance is real bad.

No value add for 720p and SD videos. Infact the x10 performs slightly better than S10/G10 for SD.
1080p content is unmatched in G10. It is the best TV around.

Cool! I've just got the Samsung B450, 42" plasma. :) Guess I'll replace the TV in 2-3 years when blu ray & 1080p content become less expensive and more readily available.
