onkyo 3300 vs 5205

which one is better ?
and what is real difference for 10K.
i use it mostly for watching moves and listening to music..connected via laptop via HDMI

5205 has active subs and sounds a bit better. But the AVR is an older one, and does not decode the latest DTS-HD-MA, and HD audio etc.
I bought a TX-SR508 AVR along with HT-728 5.1 speaker pakage for 42.5 Ks, and they are way way better than either of these.

i have the 5205 and i am satisfied - i did spend on it - i have to be- i might not be an audiophile and it serves the purpose for both movies & music for me.

have not heard the 3300 but an active sub is always better and look at bargaining for the 5205 - you can get it for at least 5k lesser i believe.

then if the 5k difference between 3300 and 5205 makes it worthwhile sound wise, then go for it. We also do not know your budget.

I listen to music in the direct mode which makes it better than the 5.1 sound.

Hope this helps - ask them to play sources which you would have as in music.

I dont know the price of 3300, i am talking about 3100(17K). My budget is max 22-23K not more than that. Morover i am having sony DVD player.
