Hi,

As per the user manual and definition the TV expected to play MKV format but it does not.

"Unable to view MKV video formats"

Anyone had issues in the past? Also searched internet tried to change profile can't find a way how to change it.

Any help pls.

Thanks
Prabu

AFAIK, mkvs have to be encoded in H.264 to be able to play them in Panasonic TVs.
Use Handbrake to do that easily.
Link here: HandBrake
Download it and install. It requires .NET 4. So, if not present in your computer, it will download and install it automatically.
Open Handbrake and click Source-->Video File. Select your file.
Then under Container select MKV File.
Then under Destination:File, enter the output filename and directory.
Then click Start. (No need to bother about any other settings.)
That's it.
If you require a detailed tutorial let me know.

Too soon to jump on reencoding...
There are several reason why a mkv won't play..
1.header compression enabled.
2.video profile greater than 4.1.
3.unsupported video codec(vc-1,xvid,mpeg-2 etc).

Just try to play the video on media player classic on pc and click on properties(to do right click on the video) and go to mediainfo..
copy paste the media info here and will give u the solution.

Additional info:

1) Panasonic demo guy visited today and surprised that his USB MKV worked fine.
2) Copied his MKV to myself
3) He left, xfered MKV to my USB can't detect MKV
4) Suspected FAT, FAT32 and NTFS still can't detect MKV

Any thoughts, again here is the media info

It is cause the video format profile is 5.1...to play on pana tv it should be equal or less than 4.1.

Now first download tsmuxer gui ...it's free.
Click on tsmuxergui.exe...then add the mkv.
You can see their will be two tracks in the tab label "Tracks". Now just select video track only(codec H.264) and then in change level make it 4.1.
Now in output click on demux and then select any folder and click on start muxing.

It will take roughly 5-6 sec to demux the video track.

You can see a file with extension .264 in output folder.

Now download mkvmergegui..it's free also.
Install it and open..then add the video track from output folder and the mkv file also. Here unselect the video track from mkv file(you can recognize easily the video track from output folder gonna be like MPEG4 ES...where video track from mkv gonna be MPEG4/AVC1)..select MPEG4 ES only and also don't forget to select the audio also(will be AAC).
Now start muxing and playback the mkv file on tv....any problem don't forget to ask.

sorry No luck, after changing to 4.1

here is info

It's due to header stripping enabling.
Open mkvmerge gui...click on file-->options-->mmg...there is a option "disable header removal compression for audio and video by default"...check/select this option.
Now try to mux now..it will work.

-How did the MKV format worked his in USB, my current format is NTFS are there any issues?

No luck again, here is media info again

That's the problem I tell people about in this forum over and over again and no one believes me. You can see the reframe count is 8..

Format settings, ReFrames : 8 frames

Most of tvs won't play mkv with video encoded with reframes more than 5.
So you now have to encode it with handbrake..and it will take time..with a lot of cpu usage...total waste of time...u are lucky that it is only 3min movie..a full length movie of 2 hrs gonna take more or less 24 hours..and think about for 24 hrs with cpu usage more than 90%....

Here is updated log after correct header removal

Better buy a basic media player that are available for as low as 2K. Still better, assemble an htpc and forget about formats.

ok..do this in output option of tsmuxer gui select M2TS muxing(after changing profile to 4.1 and selecting both video and audio) and click on start muxing.
Output file gonna have .m2ts extension...play it in the tv..this might work...

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
