Plasma, ST30 aganist XT50

Prices of Panasonic plasma TVs as quoted by dealer in Pune (not negotiated) for 50" models (did not check 42" but expect them to be 12-15k less):

P50X50D: 62,000
P50XT50D: 67,000
P50UT30D: 90,000
P50UT50D: not committed. MRP = 120,000.
P50ST30D: 101,000
P50ST50D: 115,000
P50GT50D: 128,000

Dealer was very eager to push me to 50UT30D. Said that this will be best suited for my needs. Probably wants to get rid of the old stock. Even demo'ed the 3D on the UT30. Did not ask but got the feeling that he would be willing to knock off a further 10K.

Dealer gave no commitment on P50UT50D.

The main differences between ST50 and UT50 are as follows (left = ST50, right = UT50):

The prices I got from couple of dealers (D1, D2) in North India:

P50XT50D: 65,000 & 62000
P50UT50D: 76,000 & 87,000
P50ST50D: 108,000 & 100,000

50ST50 is surely awesome considering the features and worth going if the price difference is <20,000 if someone can afford it.

Pune and Mumbai are very expensive and 5.5% octroi jacks up the price by 5k or so.

But I am surprised with the 50UT50 prices. These are really awesome.

If they are quoting 1.0 L for 50ST50 now , in another few weeks or a month , it should be around 80 k?

Not necessary - can come to 90-95K within 2-3 months for sure... ofcourse 2013 might make it towards 85K or lower range...

After searching a lot, Got the P42ST30D at 51k from Panasonic Showroom at Lajpat Nagar along with two 3D glasses, and also a Hair Drier as a free gift.

Nope, it's a brand new piece. And he gave me one glass with the TV. Second glass he said would take two days. Seems the price has gone down.

I got the model TY-EW3D2MW, second one I will get tonight so will share the model tomorrow.
I checked the PQ for both and I found the quality of ST30 better than XT50. The Neo black panel really makes a difference.

Please suggest which deal is better:

A) I am getting ST30 with HT XH170 at 55,000 with 2, 3D Glasses

B) XT50 at 43K with 2 glasses, NO HT

C) ST30 without HT at 51 K with 2, 3 D Glasses


Deal A vs Deal b: ST30 is over 12K by XT50, offcourse HT is free

Deal A vs Deal C : ST30 > XT by Rs 8000. NO HT

IS ST30 Worth 8000 over XT50???

Hi LCDFreak, though I am not an expert but after reading multiple discussions in this forum, I decided to go with ST30D. My parameters was Full HD, and I really liked the Neo Plasma panel. XT50 is HD ready, though you would not find much difference in current content available in market. I would suggest you go to a Showroom, do a demo and buy what you like. 8k is a good amount to save, so if you like XT50 PQ, go for it.

"Nishabfss", if you are based out of Delhi, you can but it from Lajpat Nagar at 51k. Or check in your region any Panasonic showroom, and give this reference.

What you got is 2nd generation glasses. I assume these should be heavier in comparison to 3rd gen glasses.

Tell them to give 3rd generation glasses. When I called LN shop I did ask about this.

Yes, I am aware this is the older version. The second one he said he will give the 3rd generation glasses and said he will try to change the older one too.
