yes - anm.. sonetimes i feel tired and look at the time that i spent auditioning while my kids waited at home.

But thats where it helps to have someone with you ( denom ) and to keep the search on with a logic and purpose. Because you know you hit bulls eye and you wont change for sometime.

hey,

just wanted to ask you .. if you know of any great Bookshelf / standmount speakers for sale in and around Mumbai. Want to audition before i pick up unless its a well known combo.

Budget - good.

Have you tried DNM high end bookshelf speakers? They are probably much below your budget and don't have brand aura but whats the harm in checking out? People liked them a lot in HFV meet when played with DNM amp. Try them with your NAD. I personally liked them a lot when played with DNM and yamaha amps. They have high end FS also but I have never heard them.

Hi mpw

You can audition the Diapason speakers at J&B Sound at Bandra East. Really good stuff. Do not know the pricing.

hi,

any info on Epos M12i speakers.. anyone know about these paired with NAD??

appreciate inputs

regards,

I have heard the epos m12i with the ca640, a creek evo2 and a cayin 40w class a.

It is a very detailed speaker with a smooth, if slightly bright top end when combined with similarly inclined electronics. It has a very balanced bottom end and an excellent midrange, but benefits from a high current drive or otherwise can sound edgy.
It sounded best with the cayin and was super smooth and detailed.

No idea how it will sound with nad, but a nad may tame the brightness.
You can read about my impressions in more detail here

Epos is an extremely capable speaker. Agree to the argument that the NAD would/might tame the slightly forward sound that it is known to give out. In addition, it is very very musical too.

I have no chance to audition this. I am taking a calculated gamble. None of thr FS impressed me and
Those that did have a high price tag. Many BS impressed but again I found the pricing unreal.

During our auditions and in my spare time I looked up epos quite a bit. I have a choice of Epic 5 or the M12i
And I opted for the latter. I have grown up on bookshelves or standmounts and maybe I may be biased here.

Living with the Nad C356 which is a bit more aggressive than its predecessor gave me a picture
Of what to expect and I took the swing. I hope to close the deal tomo unless something drastic happens.

Hoping to get few more pointers ( yes - listening is believing ) and I will layout my reasoning in much more detail once I run the speakers for some time.

Keeping my fingers crossed..and hoping for the best. No speaker is perfect or no amp too but bi hope overall
It will be satisfying and bang for the buck. Sometines I feel I am jumping the gun by laying out my thoughts before I get my hands on the piece. But this thread is also about learning from our experiences for the FM's who may follow this path or thread.

mpk, given how particular you are about what you are looking for in a speaker, I would seriously recommend you not buy one blind. No amount of reading or other people's opinions is actually a replacement for listening.

After this much effort this?

I'd say stick to the bookshelves but at least plonk your hard earned greenbacks on something you've heard and liked. The last many auditions stand testimony to audio equipment reviews, yet you are committing the same mistake. The highly regarded PSBs/Focals/Paradims were found far from listenable the frowned upon Wharfs pleased you, so did the unlikely mating of a Tannoy with the NAD.

I was looking at (Bookmarked it as well) this thread as future source of inspiration to tame the impulse buy bug whenever it creeps its head next.

Exactly sir exactly! :clapping:

mpw, you are almost there. Don't do what Michael Phelps did in 200m butterfly in London(did everything perfect except final touchdown and lost gold)! Try to audition Epos before buying.highly likely that you will like them but audition will make a difference between 'highly likely' and 'I do like'. If you doing blind buy, at least get 'buy back' offer from the dealer.

Jai , sarang and jaudere - I appreciate your posts. I hope to laydown my reasons for this approach next week when I finally have these in my hand.

Don't worry - the fruits of auditions are there and I hope to prove it right by adding a new dimension to
Purchasing logic.

If things don't work out - well - the sun will rise again.

I am hoping the transaction goes well and I receive it in good condition.

Regards
Mpw
