Please help[ no sound with setup box+denon]

Hi Guys,

I have denon 1713+ Airtel HD+Samsung. The problem is with set up box there is only picture but no sound. However with dvd there is no issue.

There was no issue, until setup box updated some software since then there is no sound.

Please help what could be the issue.

Option1 :
Contact CC Representative and ask technician for check.
Option 2:
Have u checked connecting directly to TV without AVR? by this u can crosscheck is there any problem with HDMI connection in AVR..

Mention how you have connected the avr and stb. Are you using hdmi out to connect to avr? Did you try the spdif port?

Yes if I connect setup box directly to tv it works. I see no problem.

Also with AVR DVD,USB,FM everything works. The only problem is when set up box is connected to AVR there is no sound .

If I replace stb with laptop

laptop>HDMI> AVR >HDMI> TV everything is fine

stb > HDMI > TV everything is fine

Is this issue with stb or AVR??? Please help.

do you want to try this just to see if sound is ok ?

you should use cbl/sat (hdmi1) connection in denon 1713 for connecting stb to avr. then avr to tv .

in input source menu in avr also select appropriate source.

Yes I am using cbl/sat connection in denon 1713 for connecting stb to avr.

In fact everything was fine, until one fine day I found that there is no sound. I believe stb updated some software.

Dose any body having similar setup airtel HD stb + Denon 1713?? How to verify where is the problem??

My suggestion is to use SPDIF out of stb for audio and hdmi for video. You will get 5.1 through spdif.

Try another HDMI cable.

I had this problem when I hooked up my Denon 2313 with one of my sources. Don't remember if it was the STB, DVD Player or the PS3.

The cable worked well when connected directly from the laptop to TV. But take it through the AVR and it would fail. Replaced the cable and it was all good.

An HDMI cable that works with one system may not necessarily work with another.
