Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

How does a “downsized” set up sound compared to your earlier one in India ?
Ha ha, I feel lighter, and I feel less burdened.
The problem with super expensive and large set ups is, to get over protective with them, mobility is a challenge and need to spend on accessories such as clean power, better cable, etc. Such fancies of mine may work well in a place we will settle would for good..... may be back in India after 17 to 20 years from now. May be my AP set up will still work after 2 days as vintage audio gears ;)

But now I am on move, KEF LSX II LT is a balance between compact size and good sound. I like its sound given the size is perfect for my requirement. I have placed them in a 20 feet by 18 feet bed room. The sound of KEF is tad brighter than AP, and AP used to fill the room with more body and sound stage particularly vocals, tablas and drums. But I should not compare these small bookshelf speakers to 3 way tower speakers, powered with Thyaga DAC and Amp. I think for my purpose I am quite happy with KEF. And I must say Tidal sourced music (compared to Spotify) makes a lot of difference.

And above all, beyond a certain quality of gadgets, to me the music/song, its harmony, melody and lyrics appeal more, than the equipments producing it.

Kind regards

Good Day,
Had an opportunity to indulge and buy 2 wireless NC earbuds during Diwali discount sale -The Sony WF-1000XM5 and Bose QC ultra earbuds.
1)Sony WF-1000XM5- I had the XM3 before this but was misplaced somehow in travel. I have compared these to the XM3 as well as to the Bose ultra.
- Bass is just OK- what I felt contradicting to reviews is the highs are not very clear. It varies with the tracks but over all most reviewers have mentioned it to be outstanding. I found it to lose detail.
- I felt these to be not as impressive as the XM3 in terms of sound reproduction. The NC is improved.
-Fit is excellent and touch controls are also spot on.
- case is compact and easy to carry in pocket.
-The app provides EQ for sound improvement.
- overall these are average.

2)Bose Ultra NC buds-
-IMHO these excel in all the areas.
- Bass is deep and exceptional.
-NC is also a benchmark here.
-I feel these soundstage is better, open and revealing. 3D sound stage effect.
-These are very enjoyable overall.
- Touch controls are not that crisp.
- the case is bulky.
- In ear fit not as snug as XM5.
Both buds have good mic.

Cons- Expensive.
- And if lost or misplaced then it’s a small financial hit.

Thx-

And she's here finally , after a lonnnnng wait :)and coordination across 3 states phew 😅 . A big shout out and thanks to Roshan K Thomas for meticulously putting her together and to @bijinmb from Vintage Audio Cart for the beautifully fabricated stand. Now the biggest challenge is getting my fat fingers to thread those reels and if that weren't enough, procuring reels to listen to !!! Talk about walking into it with your eyes open 🤣🤣🤣. That said i'm sure it will be worth every bit 😍
